Whiff of Joy Christmas Card with snowflakes and Copics

hello everyone,

I am hitting the challenges again, it must be in the water, as Polly and I have the bug at the moment. Went around to Polly's this morning and we had a stamp swop and I got to read her magnolia magazine (oh I am so tempted). Polly also gave me my coat hanger and little tin from Maz which I am behind on in the Altered Art creations, really do need to keep up. Thanks Polly had a lovely time.

Any way this is a card I made after obtaining my new c plate for the cuttlebug. I have aimed at three challenges

Whiff of Joy Challenge 53 - A colour combo of Red/Cream and another colour

Creative Card Crew Challenge 34 - Snowflakes

Copics Colour Challenge 37 - R20, YG06 and E33

I started by selecting my new Whiff of Joy stamp purchased on Jill's stand (Hobby House) at Doncaster Dome. I then got all my papers out and tried to use papers that I have had for a while the red was easy, with the creamy white dots, with the cream base card stock and my other colour is green. I then had one of those die cutting out sessions of acetate snowflakes, although a task in itself, it is a worth while one, as when you have added the glass particles they look so real. I made these from the cuttlebug die and emboss pack and the smaller ones from punches. I then added some ribbon and a little bow made from my new ribbon maker (oh what a delight), before finally colouring in the image with the copics. I have to say the "Atyou" clear glitter pen is superb and made the bauble look like one of those glass ones.

I again used the copics to colour my pearls on the brads to match the card colours, they are so fab at this.

Any way enough of all that and here it is - I haven't taken a photo of the insides for a while and must remember to do this next time as I never miss the inside.

This is the lovely snowflake

And as always for you copic fans the close up of the fab blending ability.

Well hope you all have a lovely (crafty) day, and I am off to put these lovely stamps from Polly into good use.

Take care everyone and thanks for looking and your lovely comments.

Magnolia, Cuttlebug and La La Land Xmas Copics Card

Disaster.................................
yesterday I started to create this lovely card and managed to use my cuttlebug to emboss my white card and cut out my nestie oval and then it happened. Work being so hectic at the moment and having just finished a call to a work colleague discussing work, I by mistake placed my plates and the nestie in the wrong order in my cuttlebug................................ the c plate snapped clean in half with a massive bang, frightened the life out of me. Thank heavens for Tracey at Running with Scissors (whose shop is so close to my work building), a quick trip and I am back up and running again.

Thanks Tracey you are a little life saver. How could I live without my c plate.

Anyway I created this card after looking at the current challenges

Just Magnolia - Week 28 – Martine’s sketch

Cuttlebug Challenge 55 - Challenge is all about Favorite Things

La La Land - Challenge 10 to use Ribbon

So I started by following Martine's sketch and wanted to incorporate my favourite embossing folder and a snowflake die (which would have fitted the Creative Card Crew Challenge as well) but due to the above had to retain the sketch flowers. I used some lovely paper from the Hobby House, and the sentiment from crafty individuals. The flowers were from the hobby house but were originally a lovely shade of glittery blue and I used my copics to colo ur them to match the paper, I did the same using my copics to colour some pale pink buttons. I got the magnolia stamp some time ago, but did not get on with it at first, but now the copics have really come into there own I think it looks pretty good. The favourite elements on the cuttlebug challenge is the embossing folder, the nesties and would have been the snowflake. Love the copics too. La La Land just asked us to use ribbon and I did this to cover one of the just magnolia elements too. I used the liquid applique for the young ladies fluffly trim to her coat.

Here is the card

This is a close up of those gorgeous embelishments

And for you copic lovers the image.

Trying out another challenge this week as Maz had given us a challenge to do and it fits into the Lots to do Challenge which is a recipe of stamping, paint and metal. This is the door hanger that I have created with my challenge for Maz (for Sam) Not toooooo PINK..............

Any way here it is see what you think my first own altered art piece (if you could call it that) - two photos as there is a changeable element.

Finally a lovely photo of star, as we love her..................................

Take care all and look after each other.

Thanks for looking and all your lovely comments

Xmas Acetate and White Effect Card - Whiff of Joy Image

After a very hectic week I got up bright and early on Saturday and caught up on the household jobs. I then started my day (oh heaven) searching the blog challenges.

During the week I had seen a lovely one for using acetate and had also seen the Colour Create Challenge for White, along with the sketch from Whiff of Joy Challenge - this idea formed in my head, however by the time Saturday came the cuttlebug challenge had expired but I decided to keep with my original idea. This card uses acetate for its base which I then used a small holly stamp (free from a magazine, can't remember which one sorry), and used white stazone to stamp the holly image all over the acetate on front and inner. This is a close up of the little stamp and below the inside inners.

I then used white card and only white and located three different cuttlebug embossing folders, I was following the Whiff of Joy sketch and needed to ensure all the elements were in place.

I added the required ribbon element and changed the flower for a snowflake. I edged the base cards on all embossed sheets with a little clear "Atyou Glitter Pen" this is such a delicate touch. I used ice stickles for the edge of the tagged/ribbon sentiment and used my purple copic to colour the pearls to match the image. A fab challenge to just use white. I even used white liquid applique for her fluffy ruffles around the neck, hands and boots.

This is a close up for all you copic fans to show that fab ability they have for shading.

Polly and Steve popped around for a coffee and to visit the Beach Hut for the first time. Polly brought around some swops, some were very unusual and watch this space for when I get around to doing something with them.

Sunday (today) Matt and I went to Doncaster Dome for the Stamp Magic Event. Matt and I agreed that although there are some unusual things there that you cannot get in the local area, most of the bits could be obtained locally or via the web and that this would then avoid him getting his toes stood on loads of time. It was lovely to see Jill from the Hobby House (rushed off her feet), and Bev in her element painting away. Bumped into Sam, Maz and Laura as planned, took a mobile to locate them as it was so busy. Sam and I had received a challenge from Maz of a door hanger, Sam created hers for the Lots to do challenge (and for little old me) and I am doing mine for Sam. Sam is I think a little worried that mine for her will be PINK!!!!! keep watching and I will blog it shortly. Thanks Sam could not wait to put it on the door. Love it.
Finally I just needed to show you this. I went to a customers home last week and opened up my bags etc and got on with the job. I turned around and this little fluffly thing had decided to make its bed in my laptop bag. Cute........................ I think not. Star is not impressed with the smell of my laptop bag now.

Well can't stop and waffle on as I have new items to play with that I purchased today at Stamp Magic.............................

Take care all and thanks for looking

Gillian Roberts - Mistletoe and Mice and Copics

Good evening all, hope your week is progressing nicely.

Mine I feel is, I managed to get to sleep last night without the tissues and woke up this morning feeling a little more human. Managed to add the final embelishments to my copics challenge card and thought I had better photograph it and blog it before the deadline. I apologise for the photo's, not the best light to take beautiful photos, however needs must.

Copics Challenge 35 required us to use
....so I thought these colours would go really well with some papers I got from the Hobby House. Not my normal xmas choice, but this year I am experimenting an awful lot. The good old nesties making the platform for the art board and the lovely Gillian Roberts - Mistletoe and Mice stamp - again I got this from the Hobby House.

I punched out some glitter card pale blue and cream for little snowflakes and added a pearl to the centres along with some snowflake ribbon, both again from the Hobby House. (Just love shopping at the Hobby House, have you noticed?)

Anyway enough of my ramblings........................ here is the finished card (not bad me thinks considering when I am ill, my creations are usually not worth making).

and here again is the close up of the copic colouring.

Dont you just love em they look so cute, did buy some liquid applique from the Hobby House, however with not feeling my best did not attempt to place a small dot on each of the mistletoe berries, maybe next time.

Finally a photo of my baby, yes I know she is sort of large and yes she fills the sofa easily and yes her fluff is coming of by the wheelie bin full at the moment - but she is just so beautiful.
Well off to drink another - (no not peach tea) - lemsip. Hope all of you out there, who are feeling under the weather, feel much better soon. (((Hugs)))

Thanks for looking and for all your lovely comments

Decoupage Male Birthday Card

Hello again, a quick weeks update.

Well I think I am like many in the area at the moment. Full of horrid flu or something similar.

Had an invite to go do some crafting with Maz on Friday evening but went for a quick coffee instead. Maz gave me some lovely glittered rub ons obtained from QVC and a wooden door handle hanger. Sam started her creation whilst I was there however I brought mine home to do when I feel a little better. It was nice to see Sam again, not seen her for a while.

On Saturday morning I went to the Hobby House and got some new bits. Bumped into Polly and Steve and the lads talked fishing whilst Polly and I raided the shelves in style. Polly is also not very well.

During the week before my germs caught me, I was asked to create another lads Birthday Card, here is what I came up with. Located the image on the web, printed it off three times on high quality photo paper and then decoupaged it after carefully cutting it out.The inside and image will not upload, so sorry but that was where the humour was.

Well I am now finishing my copics challenge card off, it is made with some lovely papers from Running with Scissors and a new stamp I got from the Hobby House, must rush to finish it so will chat soon.

Thanks for looking and hope your all feeling better soon.

Whiff of Joy and Copics Birthday Card

Good afternoon everyone, and hoping your Sunday has been a good and productive one. Today I have with Matt's assistance, cooked two meals for today and tomorrow. It did not take long so I came up to the Beach Hut and created a card for a very special mum (Matt's).

I had also been blog hopping for challenges to enter and have within this card managed to meet the

Whiff of Joy Challenge , Copic Colour Challenge and Creative Card Crew Challenge

Whiff of Joy is a sketch and Copic is to use YG95, F39 and C4 (or the closest you have)

This is the card I made containing all the required elements, really enjoyed the sketch which I followed through into the inside of the card and always love using any of my copics. This week I just seem to be making celebration cards all the time.

So here it isThe papers are from Hobby Craft (new store open in Hull) The Stamp is one from a set at Studio24 (on line). The wire came from here too. The Whiff of Joy stamp from the Hobby House, along with the lovely branch stamp and the swirl stamp and the flowers with baby pearls. Oh and almost forgot the little embellishment. Here is a close up of those lovely extras.
Even closer shot of the copic colouring and shading, oh I am just so addicted..............................
Well off to make a cup of Peach Tea - think I am getting addicted to this too.......

Chat soon and take care of each other - thanks for looking

Whiff of Joy and Copics Little Boys Birthday Card

Saturday morning another glorious day, so after having my morning coffee in the rays of the sun, I then took Mike to his morning course. I returned to another lovely coffee and then I welcomed the post lady delivering me a parcel to sign for. (Sooooooooooooooooooooo excited............................. it was my new camera - only ordered the day before) I had all of 5 minutes to play which was in essence me opening the packaging, before I had to go for my hair appointment. (Gutted - I know that at my age I need to keep on top of the grooming department but this was one of those moments when I could have thrown the hair out of the window for just once)

Could not wait for Ang to finish my hair so that I could run back across the road to play. Wow playing was fun locating the images a little tricky but as you can see below I am with Matt's help up and running with my "Birthday" Present.

This is a card for Matt's son and again being a male card I again felt I would struggle, but actually enjoyed creating it and was unable to finish and photo as Strictly and X Factor took over.

So here I am this morning photographing my newest creation with my newest toy. The card is a Whiff of Joy image with some paper from a stack from some where not sure now. The ribbon came from the Hobby House in one of the multi packs and used the doily punch again. Used quite a few copics again and a little gold sakuro pen for the buckle - from Running with Scissors earlier on in the year.

Any way enough of my babbling and here it is, one of the card and one of the close up detail on the image using the "new camera"

Well off to finish another family birthday card so enjoy your day (Sunday) and thanks for looking

Whiff of Joy Male Birthday Card and Copics

Today I got up to another lovely day, got my ironing out of the way (by that pile does grow when your not watching it and having such fun with your crafting). I then waited for the washer repair man, yes all that washing killed the machine off. However will be able to spend more time in the "Beach Hut" as he needed to order more parts and is not coming back till Tuesday.

Went for the weekly shop, whilst my son painted the fence. Wow it is all painted now and looks so much better.

Then ran upstairs to create a birthday card for Matt's dad. I normally really struggle with male cards, but this one sort of happened quite easily. I even half way through thought that without realising it I had met the colour create challenge,

The colour combination is RED, YELLOW, BLACK and WHITE.
The optional extra - FLOWERS and CHECKS

..........so continued the colour theme into the 'oakley with slipover' whiff of joy image. (This image I got from Maz as a swop. Used a large amount of copics, more than normal. Used a punch to show more of the yellow through and turned the corner and used a yellow brad to hold it down. Edged everything with Tim Holtz distressed photo and here he is.

I tried to take better photo's but my little camera is a few years old now, however Matt ordered me a new one so hopefully the images will be so much better after it has arrived and I have played with it a bit.

Well hoping you all have a good weekend, I know I will as no washing and two more birthday cards to make.

Thanks for Looking

Penny Black Xmas and Copics

Just a quick post following on from the one earlier. Made another two cards.

I used my trim craft stack of papers, some ribbon, gold and silver mirror card and several copics and the "Atyou" glitter pens.

Just love colouring and shading the little snowman and it is so nice to see how he has changed from last year.

I bet he likes his outing too.

Matt says he is so impressed with my new style of shading, I knew that practice makes you better, but pleased he has noticed considering he is an artist. I learnt all I know from him. Love him to bits.

Well I am now going to have a small drink of Malt Whiskey and relax in front of the TV...... think I am all carded out............

Thanks for looking and sharing

Various Christmas Creations - Vintage and A Copic

I got up this morning to rain, yes that wet stuff. However it did not take long for the sun to creep from behind the clouds although it has had a fight all morning to try to stay there.

Anyway following on from yesterday.

In the evening, whilst it was quiet and the boys had gone off fishing for the night I decided that it was about time I made use of my "Making Card Magazine, as if I did not start to do so, was considering stopping my order - over the past 6 months have not even used the free papers - what a waste.

Any way there was some lovely vintage papers in it, and a couple of good card layout ideas, so thought I would try them out. These are some of the magazine ideas and some I have adapted to suit the left over papers. (do not like to waste). The top one I added some liquid pearls to the centre of the poinsettia.

Love the vellum's in this months issue - still have some of this left. On this one I added some glitter glue to the scallops around the front image.

The diamond fold I think they called this. It looked complicated but was quite simple, so did a couple of these. Really used up some of my gold mirror card too. I used red glitter glue here for the holly berries as suggested in the magazine. Might keep the page with the measurements on it as it does not quite meet any lines on the score board.

Loved the little images which are not usually my style.

This one I changed slightly and ignored the measurements of the cream and green holly paper and I layered mine on gold mirror card so that the ribbon could be wrapped around the back for the neat finish.

Finally I decided to use some of my trim craft paper stack. Going a little way out and different for Xmas and using one of my favourite Penny Black Stamps and my copics and the clear "Atyou" glitter pen. Loved the black and pink theme (sorry Sam) and really enjoyed colouring in my little snowman.

Well I have just heard that the boys are packing up and coming home. I have the trophies out ready to see who got the winner one and who got the loser one or if actually anyone caught at all. Last score was that Mike was up on knocks but no fish at all.

October for me is one of those months, where everyone and anyone seems to have a birthday, so will have to integrate the Christmas card creating with the birthdays.

Well enough of my ramblings, and look after yourselves.

Whiff of Joy Christmas Card - Copics

Well woke up again to some lovely sunshine and pleasantly surprised that is was not cold. Matt had decided that he was going to go fishing overnight and spent the day preparing with Michael.

I spent all day running up and down stairs from the Beach Hut to the kitchen assisting them in the preparation.

This is what I created whilst I was being disturbed. Love my new stamp and really enjoyed colouring it in. Used my new "Atyou" glitter pens and numerous copic colours. The double ribbon was intentional, not a new inspirational thing but to cover up a mistake made whilst supporting the lads.

Well off to make myself something to eat, they are ordering pizza to the peg. I will then wonder upstairs to get creative again prior to a friend coming for some support on creating a PowerPoint presentation later.

Hope you all had a lovely day

Grace's Memory Book - Postman Pat

Initially apologising if you have tried to leave a comment and you are experiencing problems, I am trying to fix the issue.

Thank you Sam for mailing me to advise me of this issue.

So as you can imagine I spent a good few hours this morning trying to fix the problem. I think I have done this however until some one tells me otherwise I just do not know if I have managed it.

Following on from that I decided to rid the lounge of some plants that when bought were soooooooooooooo nice however after a good few years they have just managed to grow themselves out of their prepared location so have had to go. The sun has been glorious today but the wind had a nip to it, so I did not quite manage to make it to cutting the grass.

I went into my "Beach Hut" and used up the last of the current photo's for Lindz's memory books. This one being for Grace's book.

A while ago now I used these lovely orange papers on a scrapbook page in a class and really loved the colour combo, so purchased some. I think that they are bo bunny but not a hundred percent sure. I got them from Running With Scissors. Then like most things that I buy they have sat in my draws waiting for the opportunity to be used.

This lovely photo of Grace trying to steel Pat's hat is that opportunity. So I created this with the papers, doily punch, another punch currently can't remember its name. My nesties bordabilities. I used some flowers from Running with Scissors and some eyelets from the Hobby House. Flower middles from Boys.

Well off to have a cup of peach tea and start to prepare tea for this evening.

Hope you all had a lovely day

thank you for looking

New Look Blog - A big thank you

Having not got to my craft room today, as early this morning just after blogging my cricket bat and ball page, I sort of decided to pimp my blog site. Spent ages searching for a suitable template and finally found this one. Although it was easy to upload I ended up trying for several hours to sort out a problem. In the end I had to visit Polly "Artfulwings" and ask Steve if he could assist. Steve sorted out my problem and another little issue. Now all is well.

Big thank you to Steve for your expertise and kindness in resolving my problem.

Thank you very very very very very much. Oh it was lovely to see Polly again also and the coffee was lovely.

Faith's Memory Page - Grandad

Woke up this morning to the wind blowing through the trees, however it is currently dry and may brighten up.

Matt and I have a week off this week, to catch up on all those things we need to do and those things we would like to do. Matt is thinking of a last overnight fishing session with Mike and I am thinking - yes you guessed it - completing a few more memory pages for Lindz my work colleague. It is so good to have her back at work, we all did miss her.

So this is a page inspired by the photo. This is Grandad with Faith and Grace. Grandad was watching cricket and the girls fell asleep on him. I thought long and hard and then came up with the idea of the cricket bat and ball. The background paper the grass, layered onto the red to pick up the red cricket ball. The ball was made using my compass and then edged. The cricket ball lines using the faux stitching and my white gel pen. The bat was easy to draw but the colouring was more difficult. Started out by trying the copics out but it just did not do it for me. So I went to wash my hands and whilst doing this found my wood graining tool in the cupboard under the sink. I used my jo sonya yellow for a base and then dried this. I then used the brown and painted over the top and dragged my graining tool down the bat. Fab effect and it is textured too. I used ribbon to cover the handle.

The words were computer generated, edged and then I used the Christmas green flowersoft just to run under the words. Very simple but I thought it was quite effective.

Well off to make myself my morning coffee, watch the sun try to squeeze through the clouds and then may head off up to the "Beach Hut".

Hope you all have a lovely day and thank you for taking the time to look and read my blog.

Take care

Kate x
