Winter Wonderland Exciting News and a Design Team Call

Good morning to you all in the land of blog.

I remember my last years New Year's Resolution.............................. To make a Christmas card each week, so that I would not get bogged down in making them nearer Christmas :)

I kept to this all last year and this Christmas was a breeze in the Christmas Card making sense.

I started the first challenge with Winter Wonderland and continued until March 2010, when I was invited to join the Design Team and then as you can imagine, I created uniquely individual cards for each week as part of the Design Team.

Now our very Talented Janet (aka ClarkyJ) has decided to step down from the WW Design Team as a full time member but is joining us as a special guest in the last challenge of every month.

We are very pleased to announce that the very talented Miria will join us from 1 January 2011 as part of our Design Team.

But we have decided that we would still like to increase the weekly Desing Team by at least one more member and we are therefore inviting applications.

You do not need to have previous experience of DT membership, just be enthusiastic and a regular blogger. We take it in turns to set the challenges and write the posts.

So if you like me would like to have the best of both worlds, pop over to the Winter Wonderland Challenge Blog and enter your blog.  That is right we do not need you to create something special just for this DT call.

Well what are you waiting for get yourselves over here

I cannot wait to see your work

also remember that the Winter Wonderland "Thank You" challenge is still on until the 6th January so pop on over

Hugs and a Happy New Year to you all

A Great Big Thank You from the Winter Wonderland Design Team

Good morning to you all out there in the very cold land of blog
This is a very long post however I will try to keep your interest along the way

Remember back a post or two I had created a monochromatic presentation box here
and I had said that I would be posting what was going into this lovely little House Mouse box

These are the contents
In Summer this year I ordered three House Mouse Stamps all related to writing of some description.  This is what I had in mind when I bought them.  It is a set of six notelets.  A couple of them on show are the Thank You ones and the others are blank for any occasion.

here are some more photographs of the individual cards.
The colours used are from the brown spectrum with a little pink for the stamps on the letter.  Pearls are from the Hobby House as is the MS punch.  I have coloured the images with copics.

The little bows are from a local department store and I have used the larger pearls here.

The flowers are from a local department store and have been slightly distressed to pick up the brown tones.

I just adore these little critters and would buy every single stamp they do if I could afford it :)

I would like to welcome my new followers and take this opportunity to thank those lovely visitors that leave such wonderful and inspiring comments as they pass through, I love each and every one of them.

Raising The Awareness of Cyber Bullying or Harrassment!!!!!!!

Good morning to you all in the land of blog

Xmas is a Time of year where I always feel that we need to think or do something for others, so here is my chosen subject.

In this day and age sometimes we forget that bullying doesn't just take place at School, that it does actually continue into the adult life also.  With so many Social Networking places on the world wide web these days, there is now a wider forum for it.

I thought that I might over the Christmas and New Year period ask you to think about the impact that this has on people and support me in highlighting it's existence.

So whilst browsing the internet I came across this fabulous site and really felt that it might be of interest to some of you

the information provided can be further read here in full - a great source of information

these are direct quotes from that site and I thank them for the information they provide

Cyberbullying on the Internet

The Internet provides the perfect forum for cyberbullies, individuals whose aim is to gain gratification from the distress caused by provoking and tormenting others.

Serial bullies, whose behaviour profile you'll find in full at Bully OnLine, harbour a lot of internal aggression which they direct at others. This may include projection, false criticism and patronising sarcasm whilst contributing nothing of any value.........................

People who bully are adept at creating conflict between those who would otherwise pool negative information about them. The method of creating conflict is provocation which bullies delight in because they know they can always coerce at least one person to respond in a manner which can then be distorted and used to further flame and inflame people. And so it goes on. The bully then sits back and gains gratification from seeing others engage in destructive behaviour towards each other.

Many serial bullies are also serial attention-seekers. More than anything else they want attention. It doesn't matter what type of attention they get, positive or negative, as long as they can provoke someone into paying them attention. .................................. The best way to treat bullies is to refuse to respond and to refuse to engage them - which they really hate. In other words, do not reply to their postings, and on forums carry on posting without reference to their postings as if they didn't exist. In other words, treat nobodies as nobodies.

The anger of a serial bully is especially apparent when they come across someone who can see through them to espy the weak, inadequate, immature, dysfunctional aggressive individual behind the mask. .................................

The objectives of bullies are Power, Control, Domination, Subjugation. They get a kick out of seeing you react. It doesn't matter how you react, the fact they've successful provoked a reaction is, to the bully, a sign that their attempt at control have been successful. After that, it's a question of wearing you down. The more your try to explain, negotiate, conciliate, etc the more gratification they obtain from your increasingly desperate attempts to communicate with them. Understand that it is not possible to communicate in a mature adult manner with a disordered individual who's emotionally retarded.

The Number One rule for dealing with this type of behaviour is: don't respond, don't interact and don't engage. This is not as easy to do as it sounds. It's a natural response to want to defend yourself, and to put the person right. However, never argue with a serial bully; it's not a mature adult discussion, but like dealing with a child or immature teenager; whilst the serial bully may be an adult on the outside, on the inside they are like a child who's never grown up - and probably never will. Serial bullies and harassers often have disordered thinking patterns and do not share the same thoughts or values as you.

The second rule is to keep all abusive emails. Create a new folder, perhaps called "Abuse", and move hate mail and flame mail into this folder. You don't have to read it. When the time comes to take action, this folder of hate mail and flame mail is your evidence. Bullies, especially cyberbullies, are obsessive people and if their account is closed down you may start receiving mail from another address. This can later be compared to the abusive emails you've already received to identify the perpetrator. You'll find the same words, phrases and strategies occurring.

The third rule is to understand bullying. Read through Bully OnLine carefully, understand the profile of the serial bully. Recognise that you are not dealing with a person who has the same mindset as yourself. Bullying, and especially cyberbullying, has links with stalking - see related/stalking.htm for links to stalking sites.

Rule four is get help. If you're a young person, this is essential. Even mature experienced adults often cannot handle bullying and harassment by themselves. Sometimes you are dealing with a severely disordered and dangerous individual.

Rule five is become alert to provocation. It could be called "The Baiting Game". A provocative comment is made and those who respond spontaneously in irritation (eg non-assertively) are then encouraged to engage in conflict with those who respond without irritation (eg assertively). The provoker watches, waits and stirs the pot with the occasional additional provocation. What interests me is the sense of gratification that a provoker gains from watching others indulge in destructive interaction initiated by him- or herself. In this context, gratification is a perverse form of satisfaction akin to, but distinct from, pleasure.

The sixth rule is become an observer. Although you may be the target of the cyberbully's anger, you can train yourself to act as an observer. This takes you out of the firing line and enables you to study the perpetrator and collect evidence. When people use bullying behaviours they project their own weaknesses, failings and shortcomings on to others. In other words, they are telling you about themselves by fabricating an accusation based on something they themselves have done wrong. Whenever you receive a flame mail or hate mail, train yourself to instinctively ask the question, "What is this person revealing about themselves this time?"

The seventh rule is decide if you want to take action, and if so, prepare carefully and strike hard. Sometimes refusing to respond and engage will result in the cyberbully losing interest and going off to find someone easier to torment. Sometimes though, especially if there has been interaction in the past, the cyberbully is so obsessed that s/he cannot and will not let go. You will have to make that person let go, but only through swift, hard, legal action, and only when the time is right. Don't deal with the abuser yourself (this encourages bullies and stalkers), use a third party such as a solicitor.

Finally a reminder - never try to mediate, negotiate, conciliate or otherwise deal with a bully or stalker yourself. Always remember Rule #1: don't respond, don't interact and don't engage.

Now I know that this was a lot of reading but I hope you found this of use and if you feel you need to read further on the subject and many more areas please visit the site linked above.
I suppose a question would be is
At this time of year who are you thinking about or supporting?

MERRY XMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL

In the Farmyard with the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge Design Team

Good morning to you all in the land of blog, today brings the beginning of my Christmas Holidays
as well as the extended Christmas Challenge at the

the theme this week has been set by our very own Wendy, the owner of the Secret Crafter Shop

IN THE FARMYARD
(running for 2 weeks)

now I would have struggled with this one as I really do not have an image that would portray this correctly, however Stitchy Bears our fabulous sponsor
gave us an image to play with, my choice "Floral Horse" by Jeanette, at Dragons Lair Designs.

The base card is white, layered with a mid green and then a white roses embossed layer, embossing folders can be found here.  I used a woodware sentiment from the Hobby House and used Tim Holtz peeled paint distress ink to edge around the sentiment, creating a mono feel to the card.  The flowers are from many places and the ribbon and bow are Papermania's Capsule collection.

Now don't forget to pop over and see all the other Design Team Inspiration

Hello to my new followers lovely to have you join me and thank you to all my wonderful visitors who leave such inspiring comments, love them.

I am entering this creation into the following challenge
Crafty Catz - A previous challenge "Animals"
CES - Anything Goes
SweetStampin - celebrations (birthday)

I really enjoyed colouring this one in and think he looks sort of Army / Navy really with his green camouflage colouring.  The base layer is some silver card with the check on the top.  The Capsule Collection blue ribbon and bow and an MSE sentiment.  I used large brads and small pearls on the MS border punched corners and around the image I have edged in Tim Holtz distress ink Denim.  I used a pale green liquid pearl in the Marianne creatable die image plate holes. A great male birthday card and not a fisherman in sight :)

A Beautiful Monochromatic Presentation Box

Good afternoon to you all
As I write this the new engine is being lowered into Matt's car (fingers crossed) - do hope it all works when they get it in their

So whilst they have been getting messy under the bonnet, I have been getting messy in the Beach Hut, you see I cannot go anywhere as they are using my car and little me for popping to get bits if they need them.  I feel like a little yo yo :)

Yesterday I escaped for a little while and had arranged to meet Jill at the Hobby House, it was lovely to be able to have a catch up with her, and please note the Hobby House is back open after all the snow but do be careful getting there and is opening a little longer this year so if you are local you will be able to pop and get yourselves some more delish stash.  I got some lovely new bits and cannot wait to play.

I still have not been shopping for food so Matt may not have any pack up next week and dinner is not looking good either :(  and once I have posted this I need to get on with some ironing so I can have non disturbed viewing of X Factor this evening - I am praying for Matt Cardle to win :)

So this is a box I have made to put something in, the something will be posted later as part of my Winter Wonderland DT inspiration

I added lace around the side and then some ribbed black ribbon.  The top papers are black card and Papermania Capsule Collection mono (I love a bit of black and white)  So I have used some creatables die's and some lace, some diamante gems and a little house mouse all finished off with a spray of flowers and a spray over with some silver glitter (loving this spray glitter and Jane you are so right it is addictive)

I am entering this into the following challenges

A Colour Combination for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge Design Team to play with

Good morning to you
Today brings another fabulous challenge for the

and our lovely Tracie chose this theme

LIME/BLUE/PINK

I was a little stumped when I first saw these colours until Tracie raided my copic box and got out the three colours.  She then very kindly introduced me to some fabulous fresh papers in the Secret Crafter Shop here - so on the next coffee break I quickly acquired these and added them to my purchases.  Now this is not a normal colour scheme for me but I have to say I was very quickly taken by it.

So here is my design team creation for this week
Base card is another Whichcraft template, I coloured this with the lime copic and then used a blue paper to frame my pink papers.  I have added my favorite Secret Crafter Manga Image "Angel Boy" I have coloured him with copics and added a clear glitter sakuro to his wings for the glittery effect.  He is sat on a plinth of glittery liquid applique and behind him is an acetate circle, edged in the blue glitter and then a fine spray of silver through a template of a moon that I made to show him sort of sitting on the moon.  The sentiment is a velum one and the white poinsettia sprayed with the silver glitter (thanks Jane for introducing me to this love it)

Here is a close up of the image
I know he has pink eyes I was matching the colour scheme :)

Don't forget to pop to see all the other design team creations and I look forward to visiting those that enter

I am entering this little number into the following challenges

Stampin With the Dragon Design Team play with Stitchy Bear

Good evening to you all and welcome to the weekend
It's the New Challenge at

Today sees the end of the fabulous challenge which was sponsored by Rick St Dennis and welcomes the new fortnightly challenge sponsored by Stitchy Bear
The design team got to choose an image, the image also came with papers, we could you one or the other or both, well if you are going to do it you may as well go the whole hog, so I used both the image and the papers.  I chose the image Chilli Buns

The theme this challenge is

USE ANYTHING THAT SHINES OR SPARKLES

I have used some metal ribbon and twisted it down the side to give a little shine, but before I move on to the creation can I remind you all of the Card Drive for the Ear Trust here

and the December Monthly Challenge at the CDAC here

The creation then - it is another Christmas card
The base paper is pearlised gold, the papers are digital, as is the image.  I have decoupaged his hat for depth and added some liquid applique.  The small pink pearls are from the Hobby House and the sentiment is an MSE (My Sentiment Exactly) I used an MS border punch.  Isn't the metal ribbon funky.  Which reminds me I really must go get some more ribbon so I can try out another ribbon technique that I learnt recently.

I am entering this creation into the following challenges
Creative Cottage - Untraditional Christmas Colours
Inktegrity - non traditional holiday colours
Paper Pretties - Punches
Simon Says Stamp - Christmas but no red or green

Baubles For The Tree ------------say the Winter Wonderland Design Team

Good morning to you all in the land of blog and hope that it is warmer with you than it is here at the moment
Today brings a new challenge at

The snow and huge amounts of ice would lead me into saying how fabulous the entries into last weeks Penguins and Polar Bears challenge were, really enjoyed the hopping about :)

This week our very talented Janet is hosting the challenge and she has chosen the theme of

BAUBLES FOR THE TREE

and we are sponsored by
As I had already made a bauble a couple of challenges ago, I decided to use a bauble image and here is what I came up with.
I started with a Whichcraft template that I got from the Doncaster Dome show, I added panels of gold mirror card and on top of this some more of those delish Silent Night Xmas Papers by Papermania.  I added the Henry with ~Bauble image and also a few swirls adding pink pearls from the Hobby House.  On the front I added a really deep ribbon and matched this with a pull string tiny ribbon to create a big bow.  I added a sprig Xmas which I got from Hobby Craft.  The sentiments are from a vellum pack I got from Tilly's, I believe.

Here are a few close ups

Isn't the ribbon lovely and you can just see the green added to the swirl for the leaves and those gorgeous pink pearls.
and here is Henry he has liquid appliqué on his hat and his mistletoe berries.  Gold gel pen is used on the top of the bauble and a clear Atyou glitter pen on the glass bit of the bauble.  I coloured him with copics.

I am entering this creation into the following challenges
