Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge GDT - Oriental

Morning to you all in the land of blog :)
Here we are again on a lovely Saturday morning with another challenge at the

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge,

although I cannot move on till I tell you how much I enjoyed hopping around to see around a third of the numerous fabulous entries into last weeks challenge, my we have some lovers of distressing out there and such talented crafters too.
Moving on then, this weeks challenge is

ORIENTAL

As most of you who know me will already know, I do tend to like a challenge and this is definitely what I got in creating this Oriental card for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge this week.

It required me to frantically search through my draws and over my shelves to locate some thing I could use.

I then did some research to identify that Oriental is usually very slim cards, with clean lines, boxes and vibrant colours.

I located (now please don't shout at me - as I already know) some peel-offs, (I do think that these can look great and that it depends on how you use them) I feel I have used these quite tastefully.  I picked out some vibrant blue sort of holographic turquoise/blue mirror card and placed the peel-off onto the card and then cut around it very carefully.  I used the remaining mirror card to create an edge around the card and a frame around each image.  Oh dear this did not look quite right, however my son picked up some ribbon and draped it over the edge and said there you go. He just wanted me to hurry up, to benefit him.  Now it did not quite look right with the images centred and the ribbon down each edge so I off set the images and then it just added that finishing touch whilst keeping the clean lines.

So now you have had your appatite wet here is what I finally produced and the more I look at it the more I like it.  This could be used for any occasion or as a notelet.
You cannot really see the gorgeous mirror card colours which is a shame
You can just see the colour in places on this close up, and I would be very happy to wear this for a night out wouldn't you?

I am entering this card into the Sweet Stampin Challenge Blog Challenge - whose theme is ribbons

I would like to say thank you to Crafty Emma's Store Challenge for my win this morning
If you would like to be challenged or have a go at an oriental card then pop over to the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge and look at the rest of the teams fabulous inspiration and then give it a go, cannot wait to see your work.

  5. Hi Kate, I think you've made a very elegant card with the peel offs, the blue mirri card makes it look like a silk dress. Sad to say though that this card does not qualify you to enter this months prize draw as it contains no stamping :-( Feel free to re enter with another creation so you don't miss the chance to win. Thanks for playing along with Sweet Stampin, see you again soon x
