Good morning to you all in the land of blog
A little while ago I played with distress inks with my good friend Polly and some other very talented crafters. Polly said I should get dirty more and diverse from my cards more, so whilst I had some play time, here is what I did.
Apologise for the photo heavy post and will explain how I did this nearer the end of the post.
I started off with a egg shaped metal box from last Easter, recycling it. I gave it a good couple of coats with gesso, and then scuffed this up with a sanding block. I then got to work with my copic air brush system. Selecting some blue violets, pinks and purples from my sketch markers, I topped them up to ensure they were all juicy and ready to go. I then attacked the egg with my little latex gloves on, with my air brush system, creating a similar effect to that, that you would get if you used distress inks. I then found some old pretty lace and held this over the egg and air brushed in a deep BV copic. To create the lacy look. Then to finish off. Decorations apart from one flower were all from the Hobby House. So that is the flowers, little bows, lace that has also been airbrushed, liquid pearls and those gorgeous pearl flourishes.
I love how this turned out, have some more altered art pieces to get on with so off to play :)
Here is a composition piece
A warm welcome to my new followers, and I would like to thank all of my wonderful visitors who take the time to leave me such inspirational and kind comments, and this then allows me to hop on over and visit you in return.

ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous egg you created Kate, that colour is so rich. I am SOOOO confused about this blogger thing. I thought that blogger reader and google reader are 2 different things. The blogs I follow come up in my blogger dashboard reader..there is a button for looking at google reader which I understood is something different with RSS feeds etc etc and it is this they are stopping. If they stopped your dashboard reader you could never see any new posts without visiting every site? I have looked a the google official site and google reader does seem to be differentto my ordinary dashboard?? Does any one know anything more? Hugs, Jane x

Fantastic project and beautifully decorated. I am interested in where you got the egg from. I got a couple of paper mache type hollow eggs from Norway a couple of years ago and they were fun to alter, it would be great to know where to get something like that in the UK. Thank you joining in the Crafty Emblies Challenge too.
