Simple Wedding Card and Similar Simple Birthday Card

This wedding card was requested to be not pink, not fussy, and the person requesting had seen the black and white anniversary card that I had done for Matt and requested something similar. I am not sure if she will actually like this but we shall see. Sea being the ultimate hint. The groom I think I know or am almost sure I know from an earlier time in my life. He was then in the navy and has since then I think worked with me a while back in my current company. Therefore the paper colour choice and the top layer paper were not to difficult a choice. There is a nautical theme to it. No image was requested and just words. So I used my new fonts cd and created the topper and then using a technique learnt from Sue watermarked swirls onto the cream card and used my chalks to show them and to slightly in a way distress the card. I then created the strips with the same back ground blue with a wiggly victorian cut edge (water like again I suppose) The front of the card was followed on in the inside.

This is a birthday card for another work colleague. Again the request is simple and classy, no fuss and no image. (harder for me these days) but again using the new chalk techiques here is what I created and again this was followed through into the inside.I know that some of you Sam, will be pleased to see no pink and fluffy stuff. I did try keep to Sam's challenge of brown and green on my Saturday class with Sue, but the pack had already been put together so I tried my hardest on that one.

Little Acetate Book - Day with Sue (Paper Paradise)

This is a lovely acetate book that I created at Sue's home on Saturday. If you wish to see more of Sue's great insprirational creations please visit her here. Sue holds several classes teaching many techniques whilst producing the most amazing cards, scrapbook pages and altered art items.

I learnt three new techniques whilst producing this lovely little book, using several MSE and other sentiments and one of the K & Co range of papers. Stamping onto acetate with Stazone, watermark chalking and of course how to make the little book itself. (Must go get me a new gadget).

Whilst there I had a great time catching up with Maz and her daughter (who set us a lovely challenge with a hand made cupcake embelishment) and booked a date to go with Polly and Sue to produce Polly and I's step on the stairs up to Maz's creative room, Lisa (no blog yet) and Polly who I have my fingers crossed for, so watch her blog Artfulwings for updates to this lovely talented lady, who got an honourable mention on her presented item to the Let's Get Shabby Challenge.

Birthday Card on a mission

How to create a totally unique card with non of your own ideas but with your own ideas if you get my drift.

This card came from my need to be totally unique and to be capable of entering a challenge or two or more.

So I have attempted to enter
The Copics Challenge - E47, BG23 and R85,
Whiff of Joy Challenge - A Whiff of Joy Stamp and "Bling"
Colour Create Challenge - Ruby, Cream and Gold

I have created a birthday card for a work colleague . The base card is cream and layered with gold and the ruby marble effect paper out of one of my stacks. The paper under the ribbon is from some left overs from a previous creation. The cream lace added for more depth. The image is Whiff of Joy "Willow with Flowers" coloured in with the Copics E47, BG23 and R85 with a few others and highlighted with the cosmic shimmer. The flowers are sweet pea flower soft. The "bling" is covered in the crystal swirls and the crystal & ruby flower centres. The sentiment stamped from a kit which I thought I would never use from studio24. The inside picks up the similar design.

Blimey not only did it keep me busy in creating the card but in writing this too.

Well tomorrow I am off to Sue's for another inspiring session, can't wait to see everyone again.

A Birthday card requested

Well as you can see the butterfly punch arrived and I was able to finish the birthday card for a very special 7 year old. The request was very very girly. So sorry Sam but that just meant pink and flowery and felt the butterflies were needed to add that extra bling bit. I used my gorgeous stamp my martha steward doily lace edge punch and some lovely pink ribbon and tied the bow myself. Printed the wording and the inside stamp from MSE sentiments. Used pearls and glitter to make those little butterflies look all fairytale. Followed it through into the inside.

Well off to finish another birthday card for a one of the ladies at work. Two next week so they are keeping me busy.

Wedding Card and first use of flower soft

I came home yesterday to find my new stamp from Whiff of Joy waiting for me. I was so pleased as the card needed completing for Thursday and I was running out of time. So after completing tea in speedy fashion. I headed up to the Beach Hut and stamped my image. I then coloured it with the good old faithful copics and layered this onto the nesti that I had prepared. I then attempted the flower soft. Well wierd stuff but if finally looked ok and I dressed it with the little and little larger pearls and finally glued everything else in place. I had already added one of my new MSE sentiments in the inside and wanted to add a smaller image inside, so stamped another image and produced a smaller nesti for it to sit on. Love the overall look and thank the Whiff of Joy Web site for their gallery of inspiration.

I arrived at work to find Karen not well so the poor little card is still sat in my car waiting for her speedy return.

Today still waiting for my butterfly punch to arrive, and decided that I really must hit the ironing pile, as fear that people will think I don't have many clothes.

A Ruby Wedding Card and a 4th Birthday Card for a little girl

This lovely little card I created yesterday with some papers from the hobby house. I had decided it just had to contain pearls after doing my research on Ruby Wedding. However as it is the first Wedding Anniversary Card I had done. I had to firstly locate an image. This one was again from the hobby house. I used gold embossing powder and my heat gun (not done this for a while) and the image came out just right. I used my good old faithful nesties and my new martha stewart punch along with some ribbon, pearls and flowers all from the hobby house. I used my new fonts cd rom and located a suitable font to create the wording. I carried it through into the inside but not as fussy. Using my new set of MSE sentiments. This next card is for a special little girl who is 4 tomorrow. So it had to be PINK and girly. I used my new font cd rom to create the template for the number 4 and covered this in some left over furry paper I had used for one of the memory books. I also used the cd rom for the words. I added some flowers and pretty paper layers and finally my little gorgeous stamp sitting pretty. The inside again following on the theme but again simple with a space for writing on.

Well an update on the charity match that Matt went to yesterday. Out of 37 fishing he came 16th. It was a really bad day for fishing and he looks like Rudolph but his arms are very nicely tanned. £150 was raised for the Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Well thanks for looking

Sold my first hand made card + another page for Grace's Memory Book

This is the memory book page that I had all ready to go but unable to work on due to needing to move in to the new craft room. Love the back paper of this one could not resist the lovely large PINK flower.

This is the very first card that I was asked to create. Quite unique with particular wording which unfortunately I felt I could not blog. So I took the photo to cut of the offending words. Matt located the lovely blue robin reliant image on the net for me and I carefully cut it out and added the broken ball and chain.

I decided that this needed to have that little extra so placed another card inside to allow the full feelings of the person sending the card to be displayed. "A Womans Self Help Guide to Divorce".

I then created the guide - a little from experience prior to me meeting the perfect guy "Matt".

The photo is not very clear (sorry) but think the message was.

And finally the last page for the person to write their own words.

She absolutely loved it and I was thrilled. She said I should charge more but not really sure what to charge.............................. any ideas?

Well the take away is arriving soon, and then Matt will be creating his fishing bait. He is at a Charity Fishing Match, tomorrow. I hope the weather is good for them and the special day. It is in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind. So whilst he is there and if I iron very quickly I will pop to the hobby house to apologise for missing the day with Bev and of course to buy some more bits as I have a few more orders.

Thanks for looking
Hope everyone is well

My Very Own Beach Hut Craft Room

Well what can I say other than hooooooooooooooorrrraaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy it is done.

As promised here is where I use to create. The corner of my living room next to the fish tank and very squashed as well as taking over the floor when getting inspired. As my profile states I had taken over the xmas tree location and worried if I would be able to have a tree up this year.

Now as you know I chose my colours some time ago. A crisp clean room so white, with a turquoise and a hint of turquoise in the gloss. Well Matt bless him picked up magnolia (he was thinking of the stamps) so the room has a new nickname "The Beach Hut" The magnolia is the sand. The Turquoise the sea and the cupboard and the gloss the litte beach hut. Matt's mum offered me a blow up palm tree but I had to decline.

Well we started it our week off on the Wednesday and finished it on Thursday evening. I am not sure if the decorating or putting away all my crafty bits took the longest.

So here it is (oh and Ruth - use the worktop and how about transforming a garage :) )

Must draw your attention to the ribbon hangers. These lovely hooks were given to Matt by his mum for his birthday years ago and we just could not decide where to put them and well they fit in here just wonderfully and so useful. The shelves now have the stamps on them but when I took the photo's they were still drying.

This is the little cupboard at the end that made me think beach hut.

Well after spending a full week on a room ( a very special needed room) I now need to catch up on the cleaning and ironing etc. So going for it in style and hope to get into the room later on today to try pick up where I left off.

Take care everyone

Catching Up

Well am I busy and the weather is not stopping me. Matt and I started to clear the new craft room, I decided on not taking a before and after due to the awful mess it was in. Let us just call it a clutter room. Anyway last night finally had the room cleared and some of the wall paper off the wall. All the rubbish at 11.30pm last night was dutifully outside waiting for the arrival today of the skip. This arrived early and we have cleared that rubbish and also cleared the rubbish from the garage (we can now walk in the garage).

Yesterday morning I needed to make a card for Faye and Ash who have a lovely new addition to their family "Joshua James". Sue (nanna) is so excited. Here is the card I created for them. I used the cuttlebug and a folder to create the blocks on the base and layered with white and the same blue. I used one of my celebration stamps and coloured with copics and the silver saduco. I created the sentiment in word to match.
The inside I used a smaller image and left this black and white and layered to match the front. Using the same for the inner verse.

I have also now the party is over and he has seen the cards taken the photo's of Matt's 40th Birthday creations. The first one is from Michael which is "Flippin Men - Fishing". Love the dimension on these.

The second from myself to Matt (think I was running out of fishing inspriration - had done four cards related to the subject that week) I wanted to use the 40 but have the fishing bear line running out of the 0, but could not get it to look right.

Finally yesterday afternoon I visited Sue for one of her classes, I really enjoy visiting Sue you always learn so much. I handed over Faye and Ash's card and sat down for the days learning. We painted with Jo Sonya and baby wipes, stamped, chose some gorgeous images and generally decorated our little mounts to the best of our abilities. We created some lovely variations. Here is mine.

40th and 21st Hog Roast

This is the lovely husband around 1.30am in the morning, still on the booze and well into the party spirit. Other photos are on my facebook should you be interested.

Finally I am setting the house to order after a fabulous party. Who cared if it rained and we got floods under the gazebo's, we are British and we did the British thing - carried on regardless...................

Spent all day Sunday sleeping and clearing up and now feeling human again, life can continue. Just waiting for the carpets to dry after their mass clean and then I can start some of the orders I got that night and more importantly start the craft room.

well off to inpsect the new fishing equipment that Matt bought with his vouchers and birthday money. Mike has just gone for some new tropical fish with Matt to spend some of his. Don't forget he is not 21 just yet, a few more days to go for him.

bye for now
