Feathers and Roses

Good afternoon to you all in the land of blog
Today I have finished my play creation from yesterday, and really enjoyed doing something different.  Matt has gone fishing for the last match of the season, so hope he does well, he came fourth in the last two matches so do hope he can maintain his good spot.

On that note, I don't think that I would be any good at doing the hand shots on gems tv as on looking back at my tutorial photo's my nails and hands are awful, but thank you for all the lovely comments :) was thrilled you liked my first tutorial.

So what have I created to post today, well I have done many full size bottle dresses in many disguises but for my team at work for Xmas this year, thought I would make some little bottle's.  So here is one of many to come
I made a Marianne Die fancy circle base and then created a panelled surround.  I added ribbon to hold it together at the top, easy access for them all.  I added some burgundy ribbon roses around the base tucked some lovely white feathers around too.  Added another rose and some feathers and a couple of charm bells along with a nestie fancy tag in silver and voilĂ .  Fiddly but oh so worth it.

I would like to welcome all my new followers and wish you all well in the 500 follower candy.   For those of you that have not yet entered the 500 follower candy you can do so here, and thank Feline for advertising my candy for me.

Totally awesome, you guys are amazing................thank you so much :) 640 followers, if you are already follow me please don't forget to put your name in the hat :)  I am now looking at my next candy, not sure at the moment what I will be going for, will have to see what is new in at Grimsby Crafts :)

As always and very importantly I would like to say thank you to all my wonderful visitors who take the time to leave such inspirational comments on my blog, allowing me to hop back over to see your own beautiful work. THANK YOU!!

Little Fishing Net Tutorial

Good evening to you all in the land of blog

After several lovely comments, and requests and lots of mail enquiries

finally I have prepared my first ever tutorial, thank you to so many of you for requesting it and hope this explains it clearly enough and I apologise for the numerous photographs and both mine and Matt's hands lol xx

So starting with all the little bits you will require,
  • Some Scotch Electrical Shielding Tape
Edited at Request - The Electrical Shielding Tape can be purchased on e bay (mine comes from the electrician, the husband) on e bay search for 3M Scotch 24 Electrical Shielding Tape
  • Some Pliers
  • Some Glue
  • A match stick or several first time around
  • some craft wire the sturdy one not the flimsy
  • copic pen to colour

Here is the Electrical Shielding Tape out of it's box, with a small 3 inch piece cut off the role.

Place your finger inside the cut off piece to open it out

and then remove your finger and expand it as far as it will go

Take a 5 inch piece of the craft ribbon and straighten it out, you are going to use this as the needle and thread, weaving in and out of the opened out end of the metal ribbon tube

It does get hard nearer the end, and you do need lots of patience but it will be worth it honest, make sure you have enough of the wire through both sides

Use a circular shaped object, I have used a small stickles bottle, to push the now misshapen wire into a circle shape again

Whilst it is in place use the pliers to twist the two wire ends together

Keep twisting until really tight

Remove from the circular object and you have a lovely circle and a great join for the wire

The scruffy edges you just push inside but be careful not to damage your nice circle.

Again put your finger into the ribbon and with your other hand, take hold of the other end of the metal ribbon, and start to twist

Keep twisting

Until it holds firmly on it's own

Take your scissors and cut away the excess metal ribbon

You have now created the little net

Take your pliers and cut through the waste wire but leave a little for the join onto the pole

Just the smallest bit so you can hide it

Now take your match stick

Offer it up to the net and mark with a pencil where the metal wire finishes

Using a craft knife, cut half way through the match stick on that line

Turn the match stick and cut down the centre up to the line

we are removing half of the match stick

So that the wire will fit under it

now to colour the pole, I have used copics E49

The wood takes the colour really well

Here it shows the cut out a little better

Now being careful flatten the net circle onto the net as when placed on the card it will need to be lower

Add glue to the wire stick

and the cut match end

Place the two together carefully, you will get over spill of glue, but you can wait till it is dry to trim this away

Now add it to your creation for that extra special embellishment

 Hugs and Enjoy your evening

House Mousey Play Time

Good afternoon to you all in the land of blog
Today I have been playing, I got up early and cleared all the housework and ran upstairs to my Beach Hut to play with my crafty bits.  I had a couple or so challenge is mind, and had a few DT pieces to do as well.  But spent a good hour photographing a fishing net tutorial.  I had received so many comments and mails asking how to create it that I though I best have a go.  So Matt very kindly obliged, so this will follow soon.

But for now here are my favourite critters, this is another of my Autumn images from my pack which I purchased from Grimsby Crafts, I have to say it was easier on the colouring than the last one :) but equally as fabulous.

Here it is
The card follows the following sketch
from Midnight Madness
and
of course I was aiming for the House Mouse Challenge

The base colour on the card is a deep chocolate brown this is also the contrast colour.  The papers are from the Papermania Mono range and I adore this particular one.  The ribbon is from the Hobby House as are the Pearls.  The lace is from Grimsby Crafts and believe it or not the little maple leaves are off the floor in my garden, I just added some diamond stickles around the image plate and onto the leaves. The image has been coloured in copics and the sky airbrushed, with a little edge distressing with E31.

I would like to welcome all my new followers and wish you all well in the 500 follower candy.   For those of you that have not yet entered the 500 follower candy you can do so here, and thank Feline for advertising my candy for me.

Good afternoon to you all in the land of blog
Today I delivered another card class at Grimsby Crafts, with lots of new faces and well as our regular ladies, a very enjoyable day :)

Wrap up Warm for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge DT

Good morning to you all in the land of blog
Today sees the next fabulous challenge at the

with the theme of

Wrap Up Warm
something with knitting or woollies

chosen by the very talented Andie, now don't forget to hop over to see the rest of the design teams fabulous inspiration and here is my inspiration for this challenge
This is as you can probably guess another birthday card for a male in the family and yes he is a fisherman too.
The base layer is a cream pearlescent paper and the top papers I am sorry they are so old I cannot remember but it was a male stack.  The image is LOTV.  The nestie is the smaller of the grand nestie ovals and scallop ovals. The image plate has been airbrushed with G82 to create the lovely soft edging, little pearls are from the Hobby House, not airbrushed on this occasion.
Matt very kindly created me another fabulous little fishing net for my fish charm, doesn't he do them so well, love him to bits for his talent :) and other reasons too of course.....
The image has been coloured in copics and gently blended to give a woollie look to the jumper.

Well I have just got back from taking Matt's car for it's MOT, hope it sails through as he has gone to work in my car.  Thank heavens for Mike's car, as he drove me back so I did not have to walk in this bitter cold, so as the challenge says, I put my woollies on and wrapped up warm.  So now that I am back because I got up soooooooooooooo early it was dark outside, I can now spend the day preparing for Sunday's card class at Grimsby Crafts and playing, well okay have some DT cards to do too, as well as a leaving card, for a lady at work, but looking forward to my day, as the cough is now on it's last legs and I feel so much better.  Thank you for all the get well wishes :)
