X Factor Contestant.................wanna be

Good evening to you all in the land of blog
I hope you have all had a fabulous weekend, in what ever you chose to do.  I still have one more day of my holiday days from work so I am having an extended weekend, so will get some ironing done tomorrow and hopefully finish my on going current large project.

Today I am thrilled to say........... thank you to Lynn at Grimsby Crafts.  For giving me the opportunity to run my first ever card class.  I got some lovely texts this morning wishing me luck, thank you ladies really appreciated you keeping me in your thoughts.  As you can imagine this morning I felt quite sick and as I drove to the shop, thought that I might need a bucket, however after the first 10 minutes, I quickly got into my stride and the nerves ran away.

I was very lucky to have a full class of very lovely and talented ladies, who were very kind to me, and even though the did not know it was my first class they were gentle on me, one at the end even said she though I was a seasoned pro, so with that said and Lynn's confirmation the class was a great success and I already have names on my next class.

We concentrated on colouring techniques with copics and pro markers as well as building the card, I hope I did not scare any of them away.................... as there was a lot of information to take in, but with luck I will see them all again for the next class.

I am gutted that I forgot to take a photo (my memory of the first class), but don't think I will ever forget it, it was so very very special :)

Today we created a card for a little man with an image where the light source was visible to aid learning the shading.  We also looked at blending and colour matching.

Here is the card we worked towards
The full contents of this card, base contrast card, papers pearls, inks and the Kanban image are available to purchase at Grimsby Crafts.  The full copic ciao including the new colours should be available at Grimsby Crafts at the beginning of next week (oh I cannot wait...............)

I am entering this card into the following challenges
2 Sisters Challenge Blog - A Teddy Bears Picnic
Easy Craft Projects - One for the Boys
Send A Smile 4 Kids - Birthday Boy
Fairy Knoll - Green
The Fuzzy Wuzzy - Animal Birthday Wishes

I would also like to say thank you to all my wonderful visitors who take the time to leave such inspirational comments, they always warm my heart and put a smile on my face

Dreamy Love.............................................

Good afternoon to you all in the land of blog
I know this is my third post for today, but I am having a few holiday crafting days and really really really enjoying myself.  Started this one this morning after I finally managed to spray the lacquer on my on going creation.  Yes that would mean that at 10am this morning it was dry, sunny and 13 degrees, oh I feel that the Spring is definitely on its way.

This creation came from the inspirational sketch at Our Vintage Affair, here it is

Isn't this sketch just great, perfect for cards and scrap book layout's alike.  I really enjoyed using it.  If you have not been over to Our Vintage Affair please do, they really inspire you to thing a little more out of the box and it is a great place to see unusual creations.

Oh sorry, keeping you in suspense as to what I created with it.  I made a card, but have to say that the total inspiration behind the card itself was from the image, this image from DezinaWorld, a little while this was a freebie however please do pop over and see what gorgeous bits are available now as she has some delish bits.

So here is my creation
The papers are from Grimsby Crafts, the base layer a really popping bright pink card to contrast the softer tones of the Making Memories Je t'adore papers.  The grand circle nestie has been used again and the image increased to fit the layout required.  Marianne Creatables used for the swirls, although I did punch out every nestie one I had too, to find the best ones, but these are so much more delicate, don't you think?  The sentiment is MSE and the flowers are from Wild Orchid and stash.  The little pale pink pearls from the Hobby House.  I distressed all the edges and then inked them up with Tim Holtz's Tattered Rose.

I am entering this creation into the following challenges
CEE Stampers - distress your papers
Crafty Purple Frog - Magical (I think this image is magical and isn't love??)
Do You Stack Up - Anything Goes
Southern Girls Challenge - Brads, Gems or Dewdrops
Truly Scrumptious - Pearls and Swirls

I would like to say thank  you to all my wonderful visitors who take the time to leave me such inspirational comments.

My parcel from Artifolk has just arrived, so must pop off and open it as my new copics are inside
whoop whoop !!!!!!

Hugs and enjoy your evening

Rupert's Discovery.....................another amazing image from Stamping Dragon Designs

Good evening to you all in the land of blog and welcome to the weekend
Today I would like to show you some delish digital papers available here at Dragon's Lair Designs. Janette has some stunning papers and complimenting scrap paper kits and it is well worth a hop to take a look.  If I am sort of short of papers, I just know I will find something gorgeous in her range. The image can be located in her store too.
Edited: Please note that this image is no longer available within the store

Here is the pack for the Anenome Papers 8 x 8 that I have used

So here is my design team inspirational piece for you today

The base paper is the latte pearlescent paper and as mentioned above my choice from the Anenome papers.  I have used some Marianne creatable dies to compliment the layout.  The large pink pearls are from the Hobby House and the flowers from a selection of the places I like to shop (see the link above).  The foliage on this creation is the branch punch and the sentiment is MSE. The image is coloured with copics with a white gel highlighter.

If you are wondering or need a reminder of which member of the Dragon family this is, it is mummy Penny, you can always tell as she has her little bow.  Today whilst out walking in the woods in the Dragon's Lair she came across this lovely flower with such a discovery inside it.

I would like to welcome my new followers and say a big and appreciative thank you to all my lovely visitors who take the time to leave me such inspirational comments

I am entering this into the following challenges
Do You Stack Up - Anything Goes

Bling it On !!!!!! ..................................

Good afternoon to you all in the land of blog
Now I know it is unusual for me to be blogging during the day, but here I am on the first day of my three days off from work.  I started the day by visiting the Hobby House, picking up a few new lovely bits, I then went on to Grimsby Crafts and yep picked up some more new bits.  I stopped for a coffee with the very talented Sue and caught up with Lynn the new owner.  Had a lovely coffee stop and inspirational refill and then headed home to start crafting.

As it is still just a little too damp for spraying in the garage on my current creative project, I started on this little number. You see it has been such a long time since I have used my Sarah Kay stamps and felt they needed an airing, at the same time I needed to try out the alternative paper for my class, so killed too birds with one stone so to speak.

Here is what I messed my hands with today
I so enjoyed creating the tilted easel card the other day, that I decided to make another.  This one has brown as the compliment layer, with those delish new papers again from Grimsby Crafts.  I have distressed all the edges of the papers and image.  I used the smallest grand circle and behind this is a small doily.  I have distressed and over stamped with Tim Holtz antique linen on the image plate and used the same colour to distress the doily circle.  Using my new purchase of the fancy tags - nesties from Grimsby Crafts and the lush brown ribbon from the Hobby House, along with some additional bling and tulle from the Hobby House too.  The flowers are from various locations see the above page link for where I shop.

I took a photo from the other angle too, so you can see I have decorated the inner easel, and this then shows the depth of the flowers as well.

I think I have gone back to my photo overload today, probably more time to take photo's too, here is a close up of the flowers, now the flowers have been distressed with vintage photo as well as the antique linen.  I did not have any browns and cream flowers, so had to adapt and colour the ones I had.  I then spray these with a very fine gold glitter spray available from the Secret Crafter.

Then the image, coloured with copics in the browns and cream tones, with a gold gel pen for that key and a white gel pen for highlights.

Finally the inner return
Just look at all that bling, love these, picked up a couple of colours from the Hobby House today.

I would like to thank all my lovely visitors that take the time to visit and leave me such wonderful comments, I love them all.

I am entering this into these challenges
Creative Cottage - Fabulous Florals
Fab N Funky - I image, 2 embellies and 3 papers
Simon Says Stamp - Coffee and Cream
Truly Scrumptious - Swirls & Pearls
Stamp with Fun - 3 papers, 3 flowers and ribbon

Well think I better go make tea, as I am preparing for my class this evening, but will definitely need to eat before I go.

Happy Crafting to you all

Birthday Cute Critters, thrilled with an Honourable Mention and Fabulous News

Good evening to you all in the land of blog
I was trying to post this earlier, however NTL decided to have a blip, so no internet for a good two hours, we are totally lost without the world of technology aren't we :)

So first of all I wanted to thank the ladies at Let's Get Shabby for selecting me for an Honourable Mention for their challenge 20, with this diamond white creation
if you want to read how this was made, please see here

The weather is still holding me up with the other creation for her special day - who knows it may improve tomorrow but then again I have three days off work so may be not :(

So whilst I was waiting for the weather to be a little less damp, I created a birthday card for a friend, here it is
My regular followers will know that I absolutely adore these little House Mouse critters and I am steadily increasing my stash.  This stamp is "Surprise Party" and I was lucky to win this from Lols and it is just perfect for a birthday.  Once again I have used my GCD Studio Paris Nights linen effect papers (Mandy, avoided stroking and cutting the special papers :)  )  I love these papers too, they have such a wonderful feel about them.  The base contrast colour is black as I wanted to stick to a monochromatic card.  The small grand circle nestie has been used for the image along with a label nestie for the sentiment, which is a new sentiment I purchased from Grimsby Crafts, sorry will locate the packet and provide details shortly.  The ribbon is Papermania Capsule Mono Collection.  The lace, oh this lace it is to die for and available at Grimsby Crafts.  The flowers from various see where I shop page link above.  The charm from the Hobby House as well as the cream diamante on the bow.  The pearls are from Grimsby Crafts.  The image has been coloured with copics in the mono tones and the image plated dusted with black stazone and over stamped with the same.  The floating tickets have been coloured with a clear glitter sakuro pen.  The whole card has then been sprayed with a very fine glitter spray from the Secret Crafter.

Which reminds me of the fabulous news
Secret Crafter was voted runner up in the 'best independent store in the midlands' section of the Aceville awards, thank you to everyone that voted.  The secret crafter will shortly be selling Clarity Stamps by the very talented Barbara Gray along with a brand new electronic cutting machine, see the shops home page for details.

I would like to thank all my wonderful visitors for all the amazing comments they leave on passing and it is lovely to see you here, and I would like to welcome my new followers too

I am entering this creation into the following challenges
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Birthday Wishes
Anything Goes - distressing
Bearly Mine - ribbons and pearls
Flourishes - Birthdays
Scrap Creations - Birthdays
Gingerloft - Furry Friends
House Mouse and Friends - Use your favourite image ( I adore all of them, but this has to be a firm favourite)

Well I am off to clear the craft room ready for three days of playing whoop whoop !!!!!!
Hugs

Here Comes The Boozy Bride............................................

Good evening to you all in the land of blog
This morning saw a very slow start to the crafting production with the rain and damp filling the air, I was yet again unable to continue with a now very slow moving project.  However, with large umbrella to hand I made my way to the hairdressers for my monthly make over.

Feeling a new woman, I decided to start on my next piece but after reading my blog posts and the reminder from Let's Get Shabby, I decided that the ideas in my head needed to move rather quickly, as I had not realised it is today that it comes to an end for their Wedding Challenge :(

I have had ideas for this creation in my head since my good friend told me she was getting married in May this year.  However isn't it funny that when you dream about the ideas sometimes when you try to put them together they just don't seem to look how you imagined them too.

Thank heavens for the husband, who waves his magic wand and gives me the technical prowess, to put my ideas into reality.

Here is my creation for one of the Wedding Gifts for her, there are many more to follow and as always what better a place than to show them off than at Let's Get Shabby's Challenge.  I adore there challenges but very rarely seem to be in the right place at the right time with my creations.  So pleased on this occasion we meet in the middle, thank you ladies.

Here is the front of my bottle wedding dress and veil with bouquet
The wine on this creation is white.  All the colours used match the actual wedding dress and flowers.  The real wedding dress is diamond white, the diamond white papers here are from the Hobby House.  The pleated dress, the bottom of the dress has the MS heart punch, the top is technically wired expertly by my dear husband Matt.  On top of this is the lotus pendant spellbinders shapeabilities die, which has been scored and concertinaed to give it depth and three of them have been used to overlay the pleated dress.  On top of this some gorgeous lace from a local department store.  On top of this some satin ribbon from the local department store.  All of these are carefully built onto a die cut from a Go Kreate  Half XXL Frame Frilly #4 from the Hobby House.  This has been punched down the back and then laced up with a very thin diamond white ribbon.  The large diamond white satin ribbon is also tied in a large bow dropping to the same length as the dress.

The bouquet is a selection of burgundy flowers from Hobby Craft and Wild Orchid and the local department store for the pearl bits.  The veil is made from tulle from the local department store (material department) with it being slightly thicker it cut really nicely using the grand callibur and the grand circles largest circle.  The out cuts from the heart MS punch were added as confetti on the veil.  The roses around the veil are from the local department store as is the marabou feathers.  On the reverse some more technical expertise where the train was threaded with wire and wrapped around the bottle cap.

Fit for a Royal Wedding don't you think?

Here are some more images
Here you can see the laced ribbon at the back and the big satin ribbon and bow through the train
This is the veil - if you look closely you can see how the train has been held on, those gorgeous roses too
The bouquet even has the hand holding bit on it, like the real thing and it is slotted through the central hole of the beautiful lace.  If you look closely on the image above you can just see the metal wire holding the pleated dress in place, isn't my hubby wonderful :)

Well after a good 5 hours of creating to get this ready for posting, I am now off for a glass of wine lol xx

enjoy the rest of your weekend
Hugs

Hop on Your Bike ...................................................

Good evening to you all in the land of blog
I just had to show you this gorgeous little fellow, as soon as I spotted him I knew I would enjoy creating a fabulous Easter card with it.  This image is from a selection of new images at Grimsby Crafts, the range is from Nellie Snellen and is called Hoppies, this little fellow is "Biking".  This creation has been produced for display at Grimsby Crafts.

Now starting last Sunday I saw a new fabulous easel card, a tilted version, and lots of people are seeing it and just having to have a go at it, and me, well I am no different to everyone else, so decided to give it a go also.

So here is my first tilted easel card, and I am sure it will not be my last, I have photographed this from two angles so you can see that the inside of the easel has also been adorned.

The deep yellow contrast layer is from the Core Essentials Collection and the top designer papers in the strip and the spots is from Craft Creations, both available at Grimsby Crafts and so bright and sunny, it was a pleasure to work with them.  The pearls are Kanban and from Grimsby Crafts also. The lace was a freebie sent with my Wild Orchid flower order, the flowers are from Wild Orchid, Hobby Craft and a local department store.

Here is a close up of the fabulous image
I stamped two of the images, and then cut one out and placed it over the top of the image on the image plate. I then used my Tim Holtz distress ink pads and a couple of sponges, along with some torn paper to create the sky and ground.  He is coloured in copics with a white gel highlighter.  Isn't he fabulous and a great Easter image.

I am also going to quickly add this image
this is an image coloured by my son Mike, for his valentines card for her.  I very tentatively let him use my copics and then watched him without blinking.  I showed him how to colour and then he rolled with it.  I think he did a great job don't you?

So I am entering my tilted easel into the following challenges
Copic Creations - Use Warm Colours
Creative Cottage - Fabulous Florals
Forgotten Scraps - Spring or Flowers
Stampin Royalty - Use Markers
Bunny Zoe Crafts - Spring Flowers Everywhere

I would like to welcome my new followers and thank those of my visitors who take the time to leave such wonderful comments, they make me smile after a hard days work :)

Enjoy the rest of your week

I got three of these notepads for £1 at a local department store.  I have used a latte coloured pearlescent paper for the base and layered some K & Co Blue Awning papers over this.  I have used several layers of the doily punch to create a frill at the bottom and added a matching ribbon and bow.  The diamante's at the bottom and around the image along with the little one in the centre of the bow are available from Grimsby Crafts.

Stamped Flowers for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge Design Team

Hi lovely people in the land of blog
Just have to say what amazing entries and phenomenal numbers in last weeks challenge, loved hopping about to see them, such a treat :)

This week the theme chosen by our very special owner of the Secret Crafter at the

A Stamped Flower

I was a very lucky lady as in November when I went to the open day at the Secret Crafter and met Wendy, Jane, Tracy and all the other ladies.  Wendy showed me this stunning digi image, isn't it gorgeous.  Wendy was kind enough to send it to me, and although it took me a while to put this into a creation, it was well worth the wait. This digi will be available soon in the Secret Crafter shop.

But before I show you my design team inspirational piece this week I need to pause and say congratulations!!!!! to

the successful applicants to the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge Design Team Call, hello ladies and look forward to working with you all.

So here is my design piece
This is one of those preformed tissue boxes.  It took a while to print out the images to the right size for this piece. I initially applied several coats of gesso and on top of this a couple of a cream acrylic paint.  I followed this by adding a layer of brown paper and then on top of this some lovely mint green papers.  The papers were double sided so I used the patterned side for the flowers on the top.  I distressed the image plates and then although you cannot see it very well used a clear glitter sakuro pen to highlight sections of the flower.  I distressed the edges of the papers and then over stamped with a swirl on the top and top sides. The distress ink is Tim Holtz vintage photo available here at the Secret Crafter Shop The top has punched flowers all around with large pearl brads in the centre and punched leaves.  The lace has been placed and glued around the oval tissue release hole.

A lovely gift for someone special.

Welcome to my new followers and as always thank you so much to all my lovely visitors who take the time to leave me such wonderful comments.

Hugs Kate
