Stamping With The Dragon Sad Farewell to the DT

Good morning to you all in the land of blog
Today is a very sad day for me as I have decided to move on and have now permanently stepped down from the Stampin with the Dragon Design Team.  I just have to say that working with Janette, Beth and the team over the past year has been fabulous with such a family it was a great experience and I had the best time ever.  I am sure that they will go from strength to strength and I will be popping by to keep in touch with all of the great team as well as now and again, using my fabulous images and maybe entering a few of their challenges myself.  ( On numerous occasions with their fabulous sponsors I imagine)

So on that note, today sees the next challenge at

with the theme of

Food

my fabulous teamies and I got to play with the sponsors fabulous images and I chose this one, it is great.  But I could not be normal on my last challenge with the family, so as the image is a cupcake I used an old biscuit tin and create a rather large cupcake...................... I hope you like it and that you will pop over and see what the rest of the team have created for your inspiration.

Here is the top angled view, hope you can see the fluffy marshmallow topping to the cupcake surround the Bugaboo image which has been die cut with a large round nestie and air brushed in G07, the glitter marshmallow top on the image doesn't show to well in the photo.

Here is the side view
The beautiful lace is the drippy icing which is oozing down the side of the green cupcake :)  I added the little green and red bells as I did not have any candy canes (not bought them for my Xmas tree yet)

Now if you have not noticed, although I am sure you have my new 600 follower candy has been posted and you can enter this here . I would like to welcome all my new followers  and wish all my followers luck in the 600 follower candy.

As always and very importantly I would like to say thank you to all my wonderful visitors who take the time to leave such inspirational comments on my blog, allowing me to hop back over to see your own beautiful work. THANK YOU!!

Today I get to introduce you to one of the fabulous new images just perfect for this time of year.
This is Sam the Vamp 2 and is available from the Home of the Dragons, the Dragon's Lair Designs, along with lots more fabulous pieces.

So here is what I created with this fabulous image
A spooky/eery Halloween card. The base layer is black and the contrast is bright orange and purple.  The papers are Papermania mono collection.  The image plate and surround is made with the smaller of the Grand Nesties.  The ribbon from stash and the pearls airbrushed to perfectly match.  The webbing (metal ribbon) airbrushed in black used to look like a spiders web.  A little silhouette of Sam hiding under the web at the bottom left and a hand made sentiment at the top.
Here is a close up of the sentiment and the black wire mesh ribbon, which has been stretched.
and here is the image, the background has been airbrushed in purple tones, copics have been used to colour the fabulous image and I added a little clear glitter sakuro pen to the spooky tree.
I hope you like it, do please pop over to the shop to see all the other gorgeous image, papers, and all the new decoupage sheets.

Send a Smile for Kids Card Drive Challenge and soooo much more.....

Good evening to you all in the land of blog

oh this is going to be a long long post, with lots of information and photo's, do please take the time to read the content for a very special cause, over a lovely cold or hot beverage, I will leave the choice down to you.

Firstly I would like to say thank you for my top three position on the last challenge at
Do It With Digi's
due to illness the challenge blog is now closing, and will be sadly missed
and then on to the rest of this interesting post....................

Today is a very special day, as the Dragon Family DT are getting involved in two special occasions

Pop over to Stampin with the Dragon to join in

and the secret bit - oh don't we just love a secret,

  • we are wishing our very own talented Janette, designer of the Dragon's Lair images and papers an early "Happy Birthday"
Our sponsor for this special challenge is our very own Janette's -

There will be two prizes

  • The first one will be for a holiday theme other than birthday.
  • The Second prize will be for a birthday card.

Each winner will receive  4 images winners choice.

The theme for this fortnight is

Either a holiday card or birthday card.

Now as the cards you will be creating are for the children, Send a Smile for Kids do have a few rules to protect the children who will receive the cards........

-All cards must be handmade - no computer card-making programs please, such as Hallmark, etc. and no store bought cards.
-All cards should be made specifically for children ages 0-19.

-Please use loose glitter sparingly (make sure to shake off excess), stickles or glimmer mists are a great alternatives to regular shake-on glitter
-Small embellishments such as brads, buttons, googly eyes should not be used on cards intended for very young children (choking hazard). -Please leave cards completely blank on the inside so the nurses and staff can write messages to the patient and their family. If there is something on the inside of your card, we can cover it with a blank inside piece or you can. -Keep the cards upbeat (no "sorry you're sick", "get well soon", etc.), these cards are intended to take the focus off of the hospital and just be a cheery holiday, birthday or any day greeting.-If you are able to, please include envelopes, especially if your cards are not the standard A2 size (4 1/4 x 5 1/2). If you cannot provide envelopes, you can still send cards and we will provide envelopes where needed.-The hospitals ask that we not include religious symbols or themes in the cards. Many families have many different faiths and beliefs and the hospital staff is not always aware of what faith a child is. -About Donations Thank you for your support of SAS4Kids! We do have expenses such as envelopes, shipping and blog costs and if you would consider donating a check to help with those expenses, it would be greatly appreciated. You may send with or without a donation of cards.
Please send your check and/or donated cards to: SAS4Kids, C/O Karen Hasheck, 5507 Hickory St., Schofield, WI 54476. Please include an email address or snail mail address so we can acknowledge your gift.
-Please include an email address and your name or a snail mail address so we can acknowledge your gift of cards or monetary donation.

Other than that let your creativity run wild and put some smiles on those little faces!! You may sign or stamp the back of your cards if you wish. All cards received will be labelled "Send A Smile 4 Kids" on the back.Thank you again! We can't wait to see what you send us for our kids!
Please take the time to create a card for the children and send it off, I did, here is what I created and sent off and received a lovely e mail back, so rewarding...............
My card focuses on the image.  The base layer is gold mirror card as is the Marianne die.  The image plate has been edged with stickles (not my favourite thing to use but it is better for the children than my normal glitter, so the rules for sending state)  The image coloured in copics, one of the new images available here, called "Penny's Pudding"
The star at the top of the hand drawn and copic created tree (get me hand drawn and coloured) is from a flower centre punch, punched out in glitter bronze paper and stickles has been added for the lights on the tree.

Now the surprise for Janette
Early Happy Birthday hun xx

This is what I created for her
It is a three piece wall plaque.  The plaque is available from the Hobby House as is the ribbon.  I used the ribbon to link all the pieces together and covered all of the pieces in some GCD Studio's Ella Blue papers.  The contrast is a pearlescent bronze paper.  The sentiments from my stash but the image is "ooooooooooooooooh cake" and again available here from Stampin Dragon Designs at the Dragon's Lair. All the edges of the sentiment and image have been distressed with Tim Holtz "Old paper" and over stamped with  Prima clear stamp with a little diamond stickles used to accent the swirls. The flowers are distressed with the same colour and are Prima also.

Here are a few more images

Fun in the Pool at Stampin with the Dragon

Good morning to you all in the land of blog
Today I get to show you one of the fabulous new images available at the Dragon's Lair.

But before I move on, I just have to tell you that my younger sister who lives in Tanzania, is visiting the UK for a month, and she will be coming to stay for a couple of days today.  Cannot wait to see her miss her terribly when she is away.

Any way back to the task at hand, Janette continually brings us the latest Season or trend images.  I just had to play with this one called "Pool Fun" which is available here in the store
So here is my creation
A Summer Fun, Birthday Card,
I just had to use the warm browns with the deep oranges a fabulous contrast.
I used again that 12 x 10 inch card and this time used the deep warm brown, I used my daisy around the page punch by MS and also used the grand oval circle die and the complimentary scallop oval.  The base papers are Papermania Capsule the orange ones, sorry cannot remember the correct name, but one of the mono packs.  The ribbon and the little pearls have been coloured with copics to perfectly match the creation.

Here is cute Jiggy on a close up, don't you just love the orange/yellow blend.

If you look closely opposite the feather at the side of the Grimsby Crafts glittered flower is a little fish charm.

On the centre of the ribbon tied bow is a little pair of flip flops.

I would like to welcome all my new followers and wish you all well in the 300 follower candy.   For those of you that have not yet entered the 300 follower candy you can do so here, thank you to Feline for now advertising my candy too.

Blown away at the moment by the number of followers - thank you so much and already planning for September's 400 follower candy. Still hoping to get 300 entrants into the 300 follower candy :)

As always and very importantly I would like to say thank you to all my wonderful visitors who take the time to leave such inspirational comments on my blog, allowing me to hop back over to see your own beautiful work. THANK YOU!!

Here is what I created for my design team inspirational piece, but don't forget to hop over and check out the other inspiration by my fabulous design team buddies.

I created an acetate fronted card.  I hope you can see from this angle that the acetate front has been stamped with glue and glitter added.
The base layer is a gold mirror card, don't you just love the shine so perfect for Xmas.  I have used some of these papers
The one on the far right, you can buy these "Christmas Tree" papers here
I have added a tag and a little ribbon with bow using the holly MS edge punch to frame the acetate.

This is the image
I have masked the image to create the sky and grass around him.  He has been coloured in copics, with a white gel highlighter to add the extra highlights.  His toe nails have been coloured with a clear gel sakuro glitter pen.

Here is a close up of the glitter snowflakes on the acetate.
