Hobby House and Bev Water colour class

Hi all
had a wonderful few hours at the Hobby House today. Met some lovely new aquaintances and made a uniquely different card from the one I think I was suppose to be following. Learnt from Bev how to use Tim Holtz ink to watercolour with a waterbrush. I have to say when I first was asked to bring one of these I did not quite know what it was. Having learnt from Bev that if you are going to use one of these lovely little numbers then make sure you are using the one with the valve in it as the others just don't make the grade (will throw away the others I bought - later) I have to say that I thought I was doing this shading thing probably all wrong. However, am pleased to say that think I was heading in the right direction.

Having learnt how to fill in stamped images with watercolour pencils and a normal brush (had difficulty with the brush bit) moved on to use a blender with the watercolour pencils and got on great. Moved on to trying to paint with Tim Holtz inks and did not get very far. Recently as you all know moved to copics and love them to bits, providing you use the correct ink to stamp (thanks Polly "~ARTfulwings~" for the info) and either a good quality marker pad or watercolour pad and even manga paper - however manga paper being like drawing on silk it is a little thin. Really enjoyed todays session on learning how to use Tim Holtz ink correctly.

Evaluation
Think that it depends on what you are doing and what you want to what media you would use and as always think most people would go with what they are familiar with.

A yellow paper from a magazine at some time
Stamped sentiment layered onto the yellow paper and then the purple card.
Punched out flower from same
Simple black florish
Little purple pearl embelishments.

Think it could have done with something else but did not want to go over the top.

I have as you know spent several days playing and practicing with the copics markers. This is one of the Penny Black stamps I used. I originally got this stamp from "Hobby House".

10th Wedding Anniversary Present

Apologise to anyone missing my blogging.

On Friday last I was taken to Sheffield to "Hobby Craft" here I made Polly "Artfulwings" very proud. The browsing lasted almost 2 hours and I felt like a little girl in a sweet shop again. On arrival we saw lots of sale signs (instead thought - I can get more for my money)

I found some lovely flowers from the wedding section, I treated myself finally to one of the new crafters companion fairy stamp sets. I got a lovely scrap book, for all my pages (thank heavens for this as the floor was getting a little crowded) I found the K & Co section and chose three lovely 12 x 12 stacks (double sided) Although I got absolutely loads of things my best buy was the manga pads for using the copics marker pens on.

I have practiced all weekend. I stamped every single stamp I had onto several pages. Shading is so easy, (well spent six hours practicing over the weekend) I finally managed to stay in the lines and got a fantastic sun tan in the process. It is like floating on silk and the shading ability it amazing.

I now need to cut out all the images that I think meet the grade and use these on some new cards. Will show you soon.

10th Wedding Anniversary Card

This is the card that I created for my husband Matt, for our 10th Wedding Anniversary.

I was inspired by a slidercard creation by Tracey at "Running with Scissors".



Recipe
The cuttlebug die cut hearts with the heart embossing folders. I ran a brass embossing template through the cuttlebug and then inked with a gold cat's eye ink. The mono lines created by the swiss dots embossing folder. The sentiment was stamped and cut out, screwed up into a ball and then using a stazone black ink and a sponge distressed it. I added a made with love embelishment from the "hobby house" and voila.

I thought it was a very masculine card.

10th Wedding Anniversary

I would like to thank Polly "Artfulwings" for creating this lovely card at the request of my husband Matt.

I am guessing the components as Polly could not upload due to my regular reading of her blog.

The embossing folder from the cuttlebug range, the swirled impressibilities and the gorgeous flowers (I think from Running with Scissors) however as always adapted by Polly to add that personal touch.

A sheer pleasure to receive. Thank you Polly.

Flutterby Butterfly Magnolia Challenge

Well with the Challenge on, and my belief that I am now at a standard to enter a card. I made this lovely little number.

Recipe
Blank White Cardstock
Layered with Textured green cardstock
Layered with a lovely pink and green butterfly paper from Nancy Watt collection.
A scalloped large oval from the cuttlebug nestibilities.
My one and only magnolia image to date (and I love it - can't wait to get more)
All edges edged with Tim Holtz peeled paint distress ink
The image coloured in watercolour pencils (I love the way my blender pen works so much better with these than water and a paint brush)
Little butterflies cut out of the textured green cardstock and edged with Tim Holtz tattered rose distress ink and the cut offs of the Nancy Watt paper edged with the peeled paint distress ink (I curled these with my nails to make them 3D.
The title printed off from the computer matching the colour up and layering on the textured green cardstock again.
Stickles light green used to create the raised sparkly body of the butterflies

Love the overall effect of this one and fingers crossed in my first challenge.

PS Matt requires a change of clothes as got soaked at fishing and does not wish to cuddle Faith Lola in his wet gear.

Well Matt has gone fishing today, so when Mike gets out of bed, I will finish the hoovering and ironing. I did not get to see baby Faith Lola yesterday as Lindz was allowed home, so going today at 6pm. Matt is meeting me there from fishing. Can't wait for my cuddle "look out Faith"

Another scrap class page

A lovely social gathering today, did some more gutting, punching and edging. Added a cut out flower and a simple frame. Got even more excited as Tracey showed me how to curl my paper and distress it as I have seen so many times on other peoples amazing pages. Can't wait to get on and play with this idea. Thanks Tracey.

The "do it yourself scrapbook page" from Running with Scissors

Instead of attending to class last week, when the demo was on. We were given ideas on paper in writing and in image on how to complete the above. I started off fine following the instructions and looking at the image and then stopped dead in my tracks as did not understand how the wording mapped to the image. (I was not the only one that was confused). I waited patiently for the images to be put on Tracey's blog, and then finished it swiftly as it all made sense then. I added extra flowers to cover the pin holes in the photo's as they had been on the office pin board since the day we got them. Think the photo's go well with the colour scheme.

Faith Lola arrived today

Just want to congratulate Mike, Lindz and Grace on the birth of Faith Lola born today at 12.55 weighing in at 7ob 7oz. Well done Lindz. Love Kate and Family

A Mans Card

I made this for a friend into his cars. Just a simple bit of layering with corner punch. Tartan paper to match the car colour which was a die cut decoupage sheet. The base topper is using the cuttlebug.

Simple but effective.

This is a card I made for my sister. I posted it but she has not received it yet. Thank heavens for blogs.

Demonstration Inspired stamped Card

This little card was created from Ideas from the demonstration at Running with Scissors.

I found from my packs an inkadinkado stamp set, originally purchased from Running with Scissors. I selected this stamp and stamped it with black stazone ink onto a blank thin white card stock. I layered this with the ideas from the demonstration onto black, gold and then black card and did the same with the word printed saying. I had edged the original white card stock with the brilliance pearlescent olive fast drying pigment ink so did the same but more for the wording. The inside I stamped with the wording and it smudged so created another and layered this onto gold card to place over the top to hide the mistake, an idea again shown at the demo.
I think that at the moment I am trying out lots of styles of cards and not actually settling with any one imparticular. I feel like I am an eclectic. Hopefully soon I will find my style.

Spellbinders Impressabilities Inspired

This card has been made from brass embossing plates, however the idea came from my new purchase from the hobby house. I bought a spellbinders impressabilities pack the flowers one. The hobby house, had not actually had chance to play with them so suggested u tube for assistance. Great way to see how to use them. So played about and was really impressed however had previously bought some brass ones but never really got on with them. So had another go using the same technique and wow - if I had figured this one out before I could have used the brass ones ages ago. I ran some white thin card through the cuttlebug with the brass template covered by the card and then the embossing pad followed by the top cuttlebug press, rolled it through and took out the embossed card. I then used my little paint roller and some stazone dark green ink and rolled the roller over the top of the embossing and what an effect. I then had some decoupage flower sheets so cut these out and placed the base layer behind the cut out hole in the embossed sheet and the rest layered as normal on the top. I layered my work onto black, then gold, then black using ideas from the demonstration at Running with Scissors and placed the whole lot on a blank card stock. The inside I stamped an image and some wording and then coloured in the balloons with the saduko (think this is how you spell it) pens suggested during the demonstration at Running with Scissors.

Fairy Land Princess Grace's Birthday Card

This lovely creation would not have happened if I had not learnt how to use peel offs in this way, so thank you Tracey at Running with Scissors for the inspriration. I also got the messy Rabbit from Running with Scissors. The flowers from the hobby house and the ideas for the toppers from the demonstration at Running with Scissors. I also got the K & Co Paper from a stack at Running with Scissors after the demonstration.

I love the way the background paper makes this card feel all fairytale like. The flowers and butterflies and dragon flies just finish it off nicely. The inside is a children's rhym with a border created in word.

Another favourite I feel and I am sure Grace will love it.

Rui Tong

On Thursday I went to see a lady through work, in Bridlington. I had no idea who she was or what she did as a living. Wow was I pleased I went. She is the manager of a shop which sells the embelishments to hats and bridal head wear and possibly so much more. The stock comes from China and I was in heaven.

I browsed with her whilst learning about her business and mentioned how gorgeous the butterflies were, how special the feathers looked and the flowers just blew me away.

Well at the end we browsed some more and she gave me lots of slight damaged stock. I also bought two very pretty flowers, one on a wire and the other on a pin in such vibrant colours - cant wait for them to go on a scrap page. My other purchase was a series of double coloured tiny feathers. I have ideas for them all.

Cant wait to go back.

Another little quickie

Again using up some left overs the stripy paper from another card - originally from Running with Scissors. The ribbon from somewhere can't remember now a little pale pink card stock from a stack and the stamp was a freebie from a magazine. Coloured the stamped image with my watercolour pencils and the blender pen. Simple but effective I thought.
