WOYWW and the Messy Scale

Hello everyone

Today sees another exciting day over at WOYWW where all the regular snoopers meet, now if you do not know what I am on about please pop over The Stamping Ground, to meet our Julia the originator of "What's On Your Workspace Wednesday" and start to see what we all get up to in our craft areas.

Well last week I had tidied so I was so squeaky I sounded like a mouse, oh that reminds me to say thank you to Jane over at Jane's Lovely Cards, for clicking on Mr Random Gen and him picking me.  Little Betty Mouse with Candy Cane arrived safely this morning in the post and I cannot wait to ink her up.  I did apologies to Betty already as she is going to take some hammering, I can tell you, may be my other Henry and Betty stamps might get a little rest, but not too much.

Sorry back to the workspace, so this week I am not clean and think I have moved up to a 2/10 on the messy scale, see what you think.

oh my now look at those stains on the work mat from the Tim Holtz distressing of those tags that I posted earlier.  It took me ages to clean it up, I really should use my glass one for this task in future, to save me the cleaning.    Now a closer look as I know you want to see what the four little squares are on the work mat.  If you are really good you might spot in the corner drying the memory box that has now been sprayed with its crackle glaze, it is cream :)

There you go, they are images I got from the Doncaster dome when I went last.  I have stamped them cut them out and distressed them ready for a future project.  I think  the images just stamped are really stunning.

Anyway let us get down to business, who was at the top of the messy scale last week as I know I was at the bottom as my desk was not my craft desk as well as being clean.

0/10 - Me

1/10 - Andrea

1/10 - Wipso

2/10 - Brenda

3/10 - Joey

4/10 - Carola

5/10 - Jozarty

6/10 - Our very own Julia

7/10 - no takers

8/10 - Cath

9/10 - no takers

10/10 - no takers

But Elizabeth says she could not rate herself as she was working in the drive way, but wow working in the drive way looked fun, and what she was doing looked great.

So that is me for today

thank you to all of you for your lovely comments on both my work and meeting my 100th follower, I am so thrilled so many of you take the time to visit little old me and I really appreciate it.

Happy WOYWW day to you and I will be hopping over to return your visits over the weekend so don't tidy up will you :)

Dont forget my celebration Candy for my 100 followers here

Hugs Kate

Vintage Tags Over At .........................."Our Vintage Affair"

Yep that is right and I could not resist the temptation to go and play along.

As you know I like to keep trying new things and although tags are not new and neither is vintage or distressing, this tag holder is.

The challenge over at Christmas Stampin All Year Long is to create  a tag holder and this was just another perfect opportunity for me to go and play and to combo some other challenges along the way.

I was a little late with my entry to Our Vintage Affair last month but this month I am on the ball, the challenge started today and guess what I spent today playing to create that special something.

Now Stamptacular this wee are asking us to Distress it so this was another something to play with and now my hands are dyed brown with Tim Holtz vintage photo and I think my sponge has died a death and next time I play I will need a new one.

Over at the Corrosive Challenge they like us to try new things so this week their challenge is Old Olive and real red and this fitted in great with this creation.

Polka Doodle are asking us to make shaped cards, I hope this fits the bill ladies.

Stampin for the Weekend are asking for Shabby or Vintage, so I joined in here too

Cute Card Thursday are asking for us to use material, I hope lace counts here.

So onto the creation which was made from various papers from a stack, along with some plain antique gold card, I used the MS doily punch it does do vintage so well don't you think.  The lace is from a local department store and the ribbon from the Hobby House.  The good old nesties used in the bug for the ovals, and the scallop ovals and stickles to add the extra Xmas sparkle.  The flowers from Wild Orchid.

So apologising for the photo heavy post again, but with out it you could miss some of the detail.

Thank you again to all those that visit my little section of blog land and leave such inspiring comments.  Oh and also if you had not noticed I am three followers away from 100 followers so I have been to see Jill at the Hobby House and arranged that as I hit my 100 follower I will be putting some candy up to celebrate, can't wait to say thank you to you all.

Well enjoy your evening

Hugs Kate xx

Tilda.......... you light up the world.

Good afternoon to you all

I started this morning by waking up to a new follower, so without fail as always, this is a welcome to Emilia and Steve (well this was the name on the follower list) so I hope that is right, any way welcome to my little section of blog land and hope that I provide you with some inspiration along the way or at least a smile or two.

The post man arrived and delivered my Crafty Sentiments clear stamp from my win, just gonna have to ink her up she is lovely, watch this space, there are some lovely new releases for this Christmas pop over and take a look.

I would like to say hello again to Mandy, lovely to have you back following me, no apology needed there are always technical glitches hun - hope you find your other missing people xx

I would like to say thank you to Sue for my lovely e mail, it is still in my mail in box and I think it will be there for a few years to come, what a lovely mail, made my heart sing - so thank you from the bottom of my heart hun xx

Finally a HUGE thank you to Sam

Now for those of you who have not visited or seen Sam's work before it is totally unique.  She amazes me with all the techniques she uses and worries me at the same time with all the heating/burning she does, however she is fabulous on her sewing machine.  Without Sam I would not have been directed to this wonderful site The Technique Zone which resolved an issue I was having with a future DT card - cannot explain any more as yet, but whilst on this site I found out why my very first attempt at today's creation did not work as well as it should have.  So the biggest ((((( HUGS)))) to Sam and thanks hun xx

So now that I have wet your appetite and interest I better quickly get around to showing you what I have been up to.

I have been creating candles, got two really cheap candles from the shop a while back but did not master this in any way but now I have and I am thrilled.  This is a Xmas Magnolia Candle.  It has lots of Tilda's on it and flourishes and a Sentiment too.  Coloured with copics and glittered up with stickles.  Now I am not even going to start to explain how to do this, so scroll back up and find the link to the Technique Zone.  Whilst your there go and have a good old browse. If you think your stuck in a little bit of a rut, go and expand your creations and try something new. The images are some that I got from Polly at Artfulwings, thank you hun, by the way have you been over to see A Vintage affair lately, if you like to create beautiful unique pieces it might be the place for you.

So not much for me to say than sorry again as this is photo heavy

I loved every minute of creating this and will definitely be going back to buy some more candles.

As I was not planning on this fitting any challenges what so ever, I am so pleased that I can enter this into the following challenges

Bye for now

Kate xx

I am getting all Sentimental over you.......................................

Good morning to you all out there in the land of blog

It is Friday, almost the weekend, and time for another fabulous challenge over at Winter Wonderland, where our very talented Marianne, has set the challenge of

A recipe - Marianne would like to see 4 papers, 3 snowflakes and 1 snowman

and as our Sponsor this week is

the Design Team have been given some lovely digital Robyn's Fetish images to use.  I really like this one and I have used it before but think it just says it all for this card.

But before I show you what I have created for this weeks Design Team Inspiration slot, I wanted to thank all those lovely people who created such stunning creations for my challenge last week, I again managed to get around to all of you and enjoyed seeing what you all wanted for Xmas.

So this week I have created an easel card, but used a sentiment as the centre piece, here it is

The papers are from my recent top up shop at the Hobby House, I love these papers and find they co ordinate so well.  The inspiration for this card came from the sketch at Sketch Saturday

So the image location has been changed to the main sentiment the little story of the melting snowman who leaves his hat behind, I flipped the sketch left to right and added the small hat in place of the sentiment, it just fitted so well with the end of the sentiment.

I used one of my MS edge punches and used a large cuttle bug die for the big snowflake and then a Marianne creatable for the middle snowflake. This was created from some dotty velum and then the tiny silver snowflake from a punch.  The brad was originally a clear diamante one from the Hobby House, which I have coloured with copics as was the velum. The snowflake silver charm again from the Hobby House and hung from behind the snowflake brad.  The sentiment has a colour effect on it, I used a sponge and one of my Big Juicy pads. Silver foil thin card, was the base contrast colour.

This is a close up of the inked sentiment along with the little red hat.  The glitter you can see is added by using a slightly larger finger lift tape and the ribbon running down the middle of it, then when you add the glitter it sticks to the very thin edge either side of the ribbon.

This is the inner return with the Robyn's Fetish image of the Melting Snowman, with another sentiment to assure us he will be back next year.  I added little diamante to the MS edge punch on the inner return and on the top one the turquoise diamante both of these were from the Hobby House. I added a little bow using the Capsule Range collection with another little diamante in its centre.  The image was coloured with the preferred media of copics.

Here is a close up of the frosted die cut snowflake with the velum snowflake coloured on top, with the centre silver snowflake and the very large coloured diamante brad.  The Snowflake charm hanging down on it's little chain.

Please see the link above for where I shop if you are interested in anything I have mentioned.

I really like this one, ooops yet another favorite I think.

So as you will know by now, us WW teamies love to combine our creations with other challenges and here are the challenges that I am entering this week.

One Stop Craft - A Main Sentiment

Crafty Emma's Store Challenge - Anything Goes

Totally Gorjus - Christmas in August

Secret Crafter - Make a Start on Xmas

CupCake - Let's Get Digital

ABC Challenge - C = Charms
Charisma Cardz - Inspired by a Song "Frosty the Snowman"
Just Inspirational - A digi challenge
Bah! Humbug! - A Christmas Carol or Song "Frosty the Snowman"
Totally Paper Crafts Challenge - Charming

I think that is about it for this week.

So hope you enjoy Marianne's challenge and I would just like to say thank you for all those lovely people leaving awesome comments that visit my little space of blog land, love ya and hope to pop back to see you in return shortly.

Now that oh so clever Mr Blogger, will publish this post for me whilst I am at work, if I get chance I will link from the mobile (sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't), if not I will link after I have done the weekly shop after work.

Have a great day and even better crafting weekend

Distressed Birthday Card

Good evening to you all, I was suppose to give this little number to a colleague today but forgot to photograph it and then also forgot to take it in for her.  Luckily for me she is popping in tomorrow so phew, saved....................

Now the person in question, is the lady who does not like Fussy or Fancy and likes the simple wordy style, so hopefully she will like this.

I really enjoyed being able to use some more of my new GCD Studio papers, this is the Ella Blue stack with linen finish.  I got a new sentiment from the sales basket at the Hobby House at the weekend and felt this was just perfect.  I distressed with Tim Holtz vintage photo and used a Nellie die to create the two diamonds.  I used the bronze pearlised card to frame the papers and used this to punch out the little butterflies, whose little bodies are made with a pale blue liquid pearl. So here is the finished card.

This time I did not start with any challenge in mind, but this fits perfectly with the following challenges.

Sir Stampalot - All Distressed

and

The Creative Cottage - Celebrations, A Birthday celebration.

I would like to thank all of those recent visitors who left such lovely comments, I love reading them all and returning your visit.

Hugs

WOYWW and a brief Messy Scale

oooooooooooh nearly forgot to post, don't you just love the Bank Holiday but hate it when you sort of miss a day lol xx

Hello to my new follower Anniejuk who joined me the other day in my little section of blogland.

So today sees another of the fabulous days at WOYWW and if you are new to this exciting event please pop over and see the creator of such fun the lovely and talented Julia at the Stamping Ground

I know that this is not a photo of my Beach Hut and crafting area, but I thought you all might like to see where I write my posts.  This is my office.  In front of you is my little computer and over the other side is the husbands.  I get to talk to him as I blog hop etc.  Just out of the photo is where my son sits with his computer too.  The bit in the middle is the double size breakfast bar, not used for breakfast in this room but it made a perfect work space for the office.

So onto the Messy Scale for last week which goes as follows:

several tied for second place

2/10 - Elizabeth and Bleubeard from Alteredbooklover

2/10 - Judie at Judie-Ijustloveartymess

2/10 - Heather who says she would love to be a 9 but does not have a craft room as yet, from cardscrafts4u

No Joey said she was well over the 10/10 so maybe we should pop over and check out her creativity as you know that a mess means lots of stuff to see, so pop and see her at Joeysworldofstuff

I would like to say thank you to all of my recent visitors who have left me some really nice comments which allow me to do some more blog hopping.

Well enjoy your snooping today and hope that something somewhere inspires you on your travels

Happy WOYWW day

A Boozy Maid Service ..............................

I told you all I was heading for a bottle and although most of you probably thought I was going to drink it all, nope I went to create a fashion outfit for it and then Matt came to play with me too.

The idea behind this came from the challenge over at A Vintage Affair, and as I love the Paris Nights papers so much I was inspired to create a bottle dress and hat for a maid in Paris. This contained several layers all distressed with vintage photo by Tim Holtz, liquid pearls used to frame the nestie cut sentiment which is a MSE one and the flowers are from Wild Orchid.  The lace is from a local department store.

So warning this post is photo heavy and written as if you are at a Paris fashion show.

The bottles ensemble is created from gorgeous linen feel paper and edged with a beautiful MS doily punch, the trim is made from a divine lace in cream tones.  The maids bib is made from spotty material with more lace adorning the edges and this is also tied at the rear.  The apron is made from a lovely linear material and edged to perfection.

In keeping with the maid theme the bottle top is made from the same linen effect material with a lovely lace accompaniment and matching lemon ribbon

Please excuse the fingers, but it was so hard to photograph the top and I really wanted to show off the image.

Well think that will be me for the day, as I have some ironing to do :(

I am entering this creation into the following challenges

A Vintage Affair - Bottle Cover

Mojo Monday - with this sketch that just perfectly tipped upside down to create the apron - thanks ladies

Simon Says Stamp and Show - Layers

Shabby Tea Room - Something old, the sentiment and Something new those delish Paris Nights papers

One Stop Craft - Main Sentiment

Crafty Emma's Store - Anything Goes

Sweet Stampin - Distressed Birthdays

Christmas Stampin All Year Long - Not a Xmas Card

Think that is about it for me for today, other than to say thank you to all those lovely visitors that have recently left me such nice comments, I really do appreciate them

Happy Crafting to you all

Kate

Oh my Tilda is Distressed today .............................................

as was I a minute of two earlier, I had a crafty blitch which I quickly turned into a creative flair moment.

well it was not my fault that the button would not colour with the copics because of the glue that had come through the button holes :(  quickly remedied with more glue and flower soft :) phew!!!!!!

So I was asked to create a very glittery, girly birthday card and this is what I came up with.  I like the sketch from Just Magnolia this week which the talented Dawny has created so this was my starting point.

I took my colour inspiration from Colour Create who have a challenge theme of pastels, lilac, yellow and mint.

So this is my creation

I made the side panels too big or was it the image that was too wide.  Well anyway you can only just see the lilac and purple background paper from the Capsule Collection.  Not sure where the lemon papers are from but I got them at the Hobby House a while back but when I was in there yesterday they still have them on the shelves.  I distressed all the edges with Tim Holtz vintage photo and added just a little bit of stickles glitter.  The lace is from Running With Scissors and it allows you to thread your chosen ribbon colour through it, I stopped half way to add my sentiment tag and then carried on again before distressing the edges of the lace.  I added flourishes of pearls also from the Hobby House and the flowers are from Hobby Craft.  Tilda is modeling the latest in Summer Fashion the paper pieced dress with matching socks and to set the whole thing off superbly are those flower soft filled copic coloured flower buttons.  The background paper is a lovely mint green.

Here is a close up of the flowers all glittered up

and a close up of the image coloured in the preferred media of copics but with the paper pieced dress and socks with a little distressing added too.

Matt is now home and his match was OK he is very cold and did not win but he had a good match.

Well think I ought to go spend some time with him and relax and watch some TV too I think.

I am entering this card into the following challenges

Stamp with Fun - Girl Card

Simon Says Stamp and Show - Tim Holtz inspired

Simon Says Stamp - Paper Piecing

Totally Tilda - Lilac and Lace

Crafty Sentiments - Summer Inspiration, well don't the flowers say Summer (can't wait till my parcel arrives from my win then I can hopefully use this for these challenges, was so pleased as when they change back to the normal rules, I would not have been able to enter, but now I should be able to - whoop, whoop)

One Stitch at a Time - Girlie

Sweet Stampin - Distressed Birthdays

Craftilicious - Purple and Green

Christmas Stampin All Year Long - Not a Xmas Card

think that is it for today, now to get a bottle of wine out, you will find out why soon promise

thank you for all your lovely comments and thank you for visiting me recently

Hope you all have a great Bank Holiday weekend, if you are in the UK

Kate xx

K.I.S. out of my comfort zone

Hi all

mmmmmmmmm yep it is raining on another Bank Holiday weekend.  The husband is at a fishing match and probably drenched.  Luckily I am on my crafting day, however, telling you that I am in my Beach Hut would not help as the rain is that heavy it is pounding on the flat roof and it makes you feel so cold.

As does this Christmas card, now this was soooooooooooo hard for me, and I am not sure if I am impressed with it to be honest.  I decided to enter the Keep It Simple Challenge, it is challenge one and I wanted to support the lovely talented ladies of the DT and give the first challenge lots of entrants.

Challenge One is to make a Christmas Card using the traditional colours

If you know me I do like to add a little of everything usually to my cards, so to avoid this was not easy, anyway enough of the waffle so to speak and here is what I ended up with.

I used my embossing board to make a frame out of embossed lines.  I then ran a glue pen over the centre of these lines and added the first Christmas primary colour of red in glitter.  I used holographic green foil card  to layer the embossed swiss dots image plate to to pick up the second primary Christmas colour.  Finally I added one of my all time favorite little snowmen from Penny Black coloured in with the same colors.

Here is in in close up showing hopefully the copic coloured image with Atyou glitter pen accompaniment for the little extra sparkle.

Which you cannot really see, rubbish photography.  I then used some new rub ons for the sentiments, but will not be using again as the bloomin things would not come off the sheet, my arm was killing before they lifted (mental note - hide them, horrid things)

I am also entering this creation into the Paper Sundaes Challenge of Christmas in August

So that is me today, I am going to pop back to the Beach Hut and play some more, might be back might not.

Oh and hope you all enjoyed your weekly dose of X Factor last night, loved the Tesco lady what a fab voice.

Thank you for your recent lovely comments and thanks for dropping by

Happy Bank Holiday Crafting

WOYWW and the Messy Scale!!!!!

Hello to all you WOYWW'ers this fine day

and if you are not sure what I am on about at all, then you definitely need to pop over to see Julia the creator of the WOYWW phenomena. It's an awesome location with some great views to see, better than some holidays abroad I promise you.

First of all before I show you what's going on this week in my Beach Hut

From today, I would like to thank the ladies at Tuesday Throw Down for selecting me as the winner of 4 digi images from Robyn's Fetish, really appreciate it and cannot wait to chose my digi images.

and

From yesterday, I would like to thank the ladies at the Cupcake challenge for Mr Random choosing lucky me for my gift voucher of £10.00 worth of digital products, thank you xx

So even though at work we are in the middle of an OFSTED inspection, I am so far this week, feeling great, and hope you all are too.

Last week, the messy scale was very busy and there were loads of takers for the empty positions on the messy scale table.  I had a great time visiting you back to see your messy work areas.  Of course it is only for fun, so when duplicate's for the scale came in I just added them to the list.  The full list is below for your further interest and so you can visit to see what you think.

However, think that the list should be refreshed for this week, as those that were high scored last week may be very tidy and low scored this week.  So I will if you like, be taking your scales again this week for viewing next week etc.

Here is last weeks messy scale 1 = Tidy and 10 = bomb site

1/10      no one felt they were tidy last week (which is good for us crafters)

2/10      again no one felt they were even a tiny bit messy

3/10      I felt I sat here last week

4/10      Sue from ScoopyStuff fitted right in here

5/10      Our very own Julia from The Stamping Ground, placed herself middle for diddle

and was joined by

5/10     Joanne at Mytobyjug

6/10     Tina B from Tinascraftyplace rated herself in this position

as did

6/10      Morti from Coupdemain

at

7/10      is Alison30 from Alicardmaking

along with

7/10      Darcy from Art-And-Sole

Now there is a big interest for the next spot with three challengers

8/10      Andrea from Where Can I Buy Time

8/10      Mustavacoffee (hope this is a pet name) from MustAvCoffee-Craftymusings

8/10      Anne from  LiverpoolLou

9/10      Helen from Stampingbyh is almost one of our messiest crafters she says.

and the messiest from last week

10/10   Kate from Noseycritters

Now you would think that the list would stop there wouldn't you, well no actually, as Donna from Doings of Doone explained proudly that she is off the scale.  So a suggestion would be we might all want to pop over to check out her messy work place :)

Cannot wait to see how the list changes this week!! So where do you think you sit?

This week I think I am a 2/10 on the messy scale :) I am proud to be a tidy crafter, striving to make a mess, as I can always improve the mess

So here are my photo's for you this week

This is the memory box I am in the process of creating, I do a little now and again, so as to not rush and spoil it's creation, the paper at the side is my paint pot, I know I could get the proper one out to use, but well then I would have to wash it and this way I just throw the paper away and it is scrap paper too, so recyling :)

This is a straight on photo from a slight angle (hey if you think I am killing myself standing on my hydraulic spinning bar stool, think again)

and finally

This is the wall directly behind my chair.  Oh I do really need more shelving

(darl if your reading this could we take a trip to B & Q for some more wood, I will do the painting honest xxxxx) oh what a selection and more overflowing in the MSE pocket boxes too now

(mental note to good conscience, stop buying stamps!!!!! bad conscience, "oh but there are so many nice ones out there and you would not want them to think you don't like them") :) ......................

Thank you to every one of you who visits and leaves me such wonderful comments they make every day special and I cannot wait to come visit all of you WOYWW snoopers, have a great blog hopping snooping day all of you

Now as always I will rely on the very clever Mr. Blogger to publish this post, he is so clever don't you think?  I will link via the mobile at some point tomorrow, I promise.

Take Care all

Hugs

A Starry Eyed Nostalgic Footballer ...................................................

Good afternoon all

Well the ironing won, after a quick trip to the shops this morning for a few foodie bits, I knuckled down to clear the ironing pile.  Whilst my son cut the grass and his fiance and I caught up on the recorded X Factor.  Our evening out last night was a surprise 40th birthday party and we really enjoyed it.  He had a fabulous Fire Engine cake (his is in the fire brigade - so it was super special)  Thank heavens for today's technology within the TV at least we did not miss the start of the X Factor.

So at around 3.15pm today I headed up to the Beach Hut to play with the other of the Papermania Nostalgia stamps, well he was shouting to me.  I did also manage another coat of paint on the memory box :).

So here is today's creation

I followed a sketch  from Sketch and Stash

The background card is holographic, which gives the card a real shine.  The papers from stash and not sure where I got them from but I am sure most people will recognise them.  They have lovely stars on them and just perfect for boys or male cards in general.  I used some ribbon to create the bar across the middle and used brads to create a loop with the lose end hidden behind the image plate.  Quite a simple card for me I know, but well men are not that fussy are they and then again I think this image says it all, don't you?

So a couple of close ups the image coloured in the preferred media of copics.

and the ribbon held in a loop by the brad, brads from Hobby House (see where I shop above), the sentiment is another MSE one.

Well after the curry last night, today we are heading for a cottage pie, so I really must head in that direction.  But before I do here are the challenges I am entering this little number into.

Secret Crafter, Saturday Challenge - Blue and Cream

Totally Gorjuss - Star

Totally Papercrafts - Summer Fun (boys just love to play football in the park during the Summer Holidays)

Just Inspirational - Hobbies (think playing football is a hobby, hope so anyway)

Short and sweet today and all that I need to say now is thank you to you all for your lovely comments, recently my husband is concerned that when I sit at the computer I am constantly smiling to myself.  (A bit weird, but it is as I read the comments)

Have a lovely evening all of you

Kate xx
