A Pesty little mess for WOYWW

Good morning to all of you WOYWW snoopers out there in blog land.

Thank you to all of you who visited last week, I really enjoyed visiting you back from your comments and as I was on holiday last week, I actually got around some more too - really enjoyed the blog hopping.  

I hope you are not squeamish as this post you may not like one of the images. Well it's not that bad (honest)

I start today's post by saying hello to my two new followers Carolynne and Heidi, hi ladies :) I hope you like little critters!!

I also would like to thank the ladies at Just Inspirational Challenge for choosing me as a winner of Challenge 6 for my son and his fiance's engagement card.  Cannot wait to play with my winning gift.

So onto the post, for those of you who have joined the new craze of snooping around the crafting sites in blog land.  We can thank our Julia for this, what a brilliant idea it is.  If you want to join in and have a snoop pop over to The Stamping Ground for this weeks WOYWW.  This is some mess I made creating the Beary Nice Anniversary card on the earlier post.  There you can see those lovely GCD Studio Paris Nights paper stack and the trusty finger lift tap and the pliers, used to trim the flower heads of their stems.  Not very interesting really.

This is a close up of the top of my cupboard in the Beach Hut, the one with no doors on it.  I collect all old cartons, and jars etc for future altered pieces.  I really enjoyed eating the Cadbury chocolate Easter egg that came in that delish purple carton.

mmmmmmmm now this is a tub of spilt pegs.  I use the pegs to hold papers together when creating.  However you are now wondering why they are spilt on the work top.  Well............................

This is the pesky little critter that caused it.  We appear to have a wasp nest under the eaves and although I cannot find a hole anywhere in my Beach Hut they keep getting in.  So whilst trying to swat it, I knocked the peg tub off it's perch and the pegs went all over.  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.  I know they will evacuate the nest soon and will be gone and then I will fill in their access/egress hole :)

Today I am also posting a card I made Monday evening and finished Tuesday morning.  

The papers are GCD Studios, called Joyful Peace.  It is a 12 x 12 48 page double sided paper stack, with a lovely vintage feel and again a lovely linen feel and look.  I got these from Denise at Tilly's again when I went shopping the other day.  The image is one of my favorites Edwin and Tilda skating from the Magnolia range (don't think I needed to tell you that)

I followed the sketch from Friday Sketchers and really enjoyed using this 

here is a close up the image partially coloured by copics the preferred media, paper pieced and decoupaged - this was a challenge and a half.

There are two layers on the hat but one everywhere else.

Creative Card Crew - Sparkle and Shine, I have used one of my newer holly stamps and a glue stamp pad to add the glue areas for the fab green glitter to stick too, I also used the burgundy stickles to add the berries to the white areas of the stamp which are meant to be the holly berries.  Felt that this picked up the foil red berries on the base paper.

Cards for Men - Decoupage  I think that this could be a male side of the family card.

Wow sorry got carried away singing the Beetles song there, however it is Friday nearly the weekend and more importantly it is another challenge over at Winter Wonderland 

with a theme of

So I just had to create my DH's Xmas Card

I decided to reduce my challenge combo this week, as I really wanted to incorporate those love colours.  So went with black and white and red which meets the challenge at Allsorts this week and the Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge of red and black.

So here is the card, which although has a couple image on it did not really feel that Christmassy, so I got sort of carried away with the glitter again and got covered as usual.

The papers are Papermania Capsule mono papers again (do love these)  The top and bottom border is self sticky velvet from Running with Scissors.  The ribbon velvet for that lush feeling from Hobby House.  I used the good old nesties and my new red Xmas glitter from the Hobby House.  The sentiments are from my first winning spend at Simon Says Stamp and are Whiff of Joy. Black Pearls small and large from Running with Scissors.

Well just a quick catch up have been so busy this week.

Get Your Glad Rags On - A Razzle Dazzle Birthday Card

Good evening everyone out there in blog land

Would love to say I have been slaving away in the garden and that the next patch of weeds has been killed off by my fair hands, alas good old English Bank Holiday weather and no such luck.  Therefore spent the time shopping - nope not craft bits :( but the usual household weekly shop and some new solar lights. 

I woke up this morning to a little sunshine, which came and went for most of the day but the wind is so bitter and we had the odd bit of hail along with a good show of lightning too.  So I spent my time popping up to my "Beach Hut" creating this little piece.  This is another of my family birthday cards, out the way.  I love being prepared and I really enjoyed doing this one.  

Anyway enough of my waffling and onto the card I hear you say.  Well here it is in all its glory, it is a master piece of glitter to put the razzle and dazzle into anyone's birthday, which should match the glitz she will be wearing when she is partying the night away.

Not sure what style of card you call this, sort of going off on a tangent these days. Started out heading for an easel card, but then adapted it again. So several photo's again, so you can see all it's sides.

The base card is a pale mint green and the top papers are actually from a wedding pack by Papermania I believe.  They all compliment each other so so well.  The glitter has been used to edge all the main layers and the MS little heart punch and the single heart punch has been used too. 

The image is of course our little Magnolia Tilda, sitting pretty near the lovely butterfly. Coloured with copics.

 This is the folded up view so the front so to speak.....

The base circle is from the Nellie circle set from the Hobby House along with the ribbon.

Oh she has not a care in the world.................................................

This butterfly is a new purchase from the Hobby House see it here with other designs, isn't it gorgeous and I glittered it all up with glitter purchased from the Hobby House also.  The pearls were an extra gift from Simon Says Stamp (thank you Stephanie), yes my parcel arrived yesterday and I was trying to open it whilst I was being gowned up for my hair revamp.  I had to borrow some scissors as it was wrapped so well.  Oh did I forget to say I spent my two gift vouchers totally on the new colour copics :))

Oh just been outside and it is dark (yes I know it is late) but today Matt and I purchased some new solar lights and placed them in the raised bed and around it.  Oh they are on and they look great, can't wait till the weather sorts itself out so we can sit out too.

Oh well, must go to bed, my Friday late night is catching up with me and I would like to be as fresh as a daisy tomorrow - just in case the sun comes out.

Candy Kisses Christmas DT Card

Good morning everyone, it is Winter Wonderland Challenge time again

Wow didn't we have some great cards last challenge, I really enjoy visiting everyone and seeing your creations.

Avril set our challenge this week, we have a theme of 

Christmas Sweets  

  i.e. chocolate limes, marshmallows etc. However you can interpret this in many ways.  You can use Christmas Sweets on your card, or you can use the Christmas Sweets colours on your card, or you can be like me and create your own Christmas Sweets Card.  

  

I have tried to be totally different to allow everyone to see how you can, even if you don't have any stamps or the coloured card, create a Christmas card meeting this theme.

 As always the Winter Wonderland Teamies love to show you how to combo your Christmas cards with other challenges and as always I would not wish to disappoint.

So on looking at this card you might think how on earth could you combo that, here it is and see what you think

This is a card created from nothing but white card, red glitter, green glitter, polar white flower soft, a magnolia stamp (optional) a bit of ribbon, some liquid applique and computer generated words, cut out with an oval nestie.  I hand drew one candy cane onto white card, I then drew around this to create the second one and reversed this.  I took a piece of A4 white card covered it with hammered green card, placed the two candy canes on it and then got messy with the red glitter.  When this was dry did the same with the polar white flower soft.  I stamped my image (thanks to Polly who has such a wonderful collection) coloured her up, used some liquid applique for the dots on her dress.  Cut her out and sat her on some card, covered with a small strip of gold ribbon.  I printed of the sentiments, used the cuttle bug to cut them out and then rolled the edges in glue and then in the green glitter.  I then cut out the top V and the bottom V to make a half candy cane card.  I think if I had cut out any more there would be no where to add the sentiments and the card would have fallen over :) Wow this was so much fun and so so so so messy.

Winter Wonderland Xmas Card

Good evening all

Finally I manage to get around to inking up my newest snowman.  He is fabulous and yes another magnolia, but I needed another snowman to be able to use all my MSE snowman sentiments.  So here is my entry to the Winter Wonderland Challenge - which this week was a very time consuming sketch but then it is a DT call as well.

So here is my interpretation of the sketch using some lovely Fiskars textured paper that I got from the Hobby House before Xmas.  I really really did not want to cut it up, but then it would go to waste if I did not.

So the base dark blue glitter card with the Fiskars lovely snowflake paper on top.  I then used my snowflake embossing folder to create the centre strip.  I backed this with the same base card.  I cut out the little squares in white card stock and again backed these with the same base card.  I used the nesties to cut out the circles and the scalloped circles and embossed the large one with swiss dots to look like falling snow.  The Sentiment is my new Whiff Of Joy collection.  I punched out some little snowflakes to place on the white squares and placed tiny pearls in the centres and then added the contrast dark ribbon with the little bow.

Here is the snowman image coloured with the copics.

I cut the large held snowflake out with the cuttlebug and used smaller punched snowflakes to build the layers adding the little pearl to finish.  I have also used the clear Atyou glitter pen to make him glisten.

The bobble on his hat and the fringe has been raised for depth with liquid applique. I love this effect.

Well tomorrow I am off for a drive to Whitby, so I hope the sun shines nicely for the drive and I look forward to an interesting day.

Well sorry it is short but I am going to watch Australia's Master Chef, I am behind on a few programmes and need to catch up as it is getting down to the nitty gritty bits.

Mother's Day Card

Good evening everyone

 

First thing I must do on this weekend's first post, is to say how grateful I am to receive such wonderful comments, and thank you to each and every one of you.

Secondly I want to welcome Carmelina and Andria to my little corner of blog land, I hope I can keep you interested and smiling.

This week has been a busy one and an eventful one.  The next few weeks will also be busy so I may not get around to posting during the week, but will definitely look forward to my weekend and the crafting opportunities. Don't you just hate the end of the financial year :)

Amusing events this week, well I had my back box renewed :)  for those of you thinking that I might have had botox in my bum - not a chance besides it still has not made it's way South.  

To clarify my trustee work horse needed to have a bit of the exhaust replaced.  However, if I was a hell of a lot younger, I might have appreciated it, and there are so many boy racers out there that would have paid a small fortune to have a car sounding as deep and throaty, well actually growly as mine did. Michael my son, said it sounded like a Harley Davidson........impressive you may think, no NOT..... how embarrassing that every time I accelerated from a junction every one looked at me.  But all fixed now for a similar small fortune and I can now hear myself think.

So onto my days crafting which as always came after our beloved housework and food shopping.  

I was asked by a close friend of the family to create three mother's day cards. So I browsed the challenges for some inspiration and the one that really sounded interesting was a tent card.  The monthly special challenge on Just Magnolia.  Just had to have a go, obviously never done one before.  I also spotted a great image inspiration on The Play Date Cafe Challenge 19 - to use deep yellow, pale yellow and white.  Such refreshing colours. 

So I created this card for the following challenges

So onto the card, sorry to have kept you waiting.  Here it is

 

Meeting the recipients requirements, of a larger card.  I selected a lovely Nancy Watt paper, sorry I am not sure of the name, I also used the velum paper with the same flowers on for the tent bit in the middle and the inside back was with the same papers as the front. I used my nesties to cut out the aperture and added a brad and little charm at the top.  I had chosen a sitting down magnolia that Polly very kindly allowed me to stamp, and sat her on the edge of the aperture just on top of the lovely yellow ribbon.  I chose a smaller nestie the same shape to produce a sentiment plinth.  I used a scroll clear stamp to add some back ground and stamped the MSE sentiment on top.  I used the Mustard Seed. Tim Holtz distress inks to edge the sentiment and used large sticky pads to raise it from the card.  I edged the aperture with pearls and the floral pretties were added to balance.  I felt she was something missing from behind her so added this delish feather.  Wow she looks ready for the movies :)

I hope he likes this and more so, I hope it makes his mother feel extra special.

WinterWonderland Magnolia meets copics xmas card

Good evening to all of my followers, including my new lady, your back, it is such a relief.  

If you are wondering how or why, well could be one of two things.  I use Mozilla Firefox and it had recently had an update.  So I installed the newest version, this did not appear to help, so I then decided to restore the computer back to new years day, whoop whoop that worked and hello to you all.  Thank you for those of you who let me know that you could see them.

Went out for tea last night with a lovely group of people and really enjoyed ourselves again.  Returned to the house watched a couple of really good movies and pigged out on a large box of Ferrero  Collection. 

Today popped out to get the pup her tins of meat and some more treats and came home with a new toaster, another storage stack unit and a small sewing machine :)))))))) can't wait to play.

So shall be having tea shortly but thought I would post this before I do.  (Sam, just in case you were worried) This is this weeks Xmas card and I am entering this into a great site for reminding us to get on with our Xmas creations.

Easel Valentine with Magnolia meeting Copics

Good evening everyone 

and welcome to my new followers 

- who I know I have but currently cannot see???????????????????????? (I am sure this will resolve itself in it's own time)

I was not feeling to good this morning so took a pain killer and headed back to bed, to be woken at 9am by the National Grid (Gas) man.  Who wanted to see my gas meter.  (oh what a thrill you might think - Not)  As my house is the same age as me, the National Grid bods, have decided that the pipework down our street requires replacing - to avoid gasing us in the future  - I presume.  However, drilling with a pneumatic drill at 9.15am and 9.30 am, did not thrill me. (after drilling the wrong hole in the first place - they located a pipe, they said, no it was electricity cables) the hole is smack in the middle of my drive at the end of it. So the long story is, I did not sleep through to the getting better stage :(((((((((((

About 3.30pm I started to feel a little fed up, I do not do sick days at all well, I get bored to easy and can not sit still.  So went up to the "Beach Hut" and started work on a card, whilst watching the little gas bods drilling more holes up the street.  My son Mike helped me figure out increasing an easel template to fit my needs and then he created me an exploding box template to fit A4 card, he is lovely and I can tell he is bored of not having a job, helping me, to amuse himself.

Anyway enough of that this easel card I really enjoyed doing and I am entering into multiple challenges, so here goes

Shabby Chic, Pink and Grey Magnolia Thank you Card

Good evening all, and I hope your day was as pleasant as mine.(hehehehehehehehee)

Well mine was due to the following reasons, (Sue - you will just love this) decided to go out today and vist Immingham.  Why you ask go to Immingham, well I went to a wee craft shop called "Tilly's".  As we parked up outside this massive white and black sign just shouted at me "SALE" whoop whoop, you have never seen me move so quick, Matt was just a smidgen behind me (think he was running to get out of the rain though).  

Started at one side of the shop and worked my way around each little nook and cranny, picking up lots of wonderful bargains and a huge pad of 12 x 12 My Minds Eye papers (xmas) wow they are so vintagy and gorgeous and I also (drummmmmmmmmm rollllll)  picked up one large and one small House Mouse stamp, so no need to order on line this week. FAB..

After spending soooooooooooooooo long in there, we gradually headed back to Grimsby to "Boy's" - now your thinking - off she goes again, ribbons and lace etc (and you would be right) but we actually went in to buy a fishing present for a friend - trying to keep ahead of the game this year.  

We left there and I called a friend for a possible coffee stop before heading home to play......... she informed me that "Grimsby Crafts" had a sale on, and as she was too busy stealing 12 x 12 size samples of wall paper, Matt headed off that way and low and behold we ended up in there tooooooooooooooooooooo.  

It took me all afternoon to put away all the bargains, very little crafting has been done. (Thanks Polly for being too busy for that coffee)Now Sue I know you are smiling to yourself............................................and Polly is phsl.................................... xx

Here is the card

This paper I got from Tilly's isn't it gorgeously pastel and floral, great for that shabby chic style.  I used my Tim Holtz vintage photo to distress the edges and my doily punch for that delicate addition.  The lace is from Boy's (last shop not this one).

and as always the close up of the copic coloured and blended (old comic board) image (thank you Polly for allowing me to stamp the new releases from Magnolia)..... I painstakingly cut her out so she would just perch her pert little bottom on the top of the ribbon.

 

 She looks quite plumpish young lady on here.....(Now that reminds me of the film "Love Actually", I bet she had a great chocolate eating xmas, then that would explain it the plumpness.

Well going to wash up, I know that that sounds normal to most.  Just explaining, that I appear to be having a bad run on the white goods appliances since xmas and now the dishwasher is waiting for the repair man. So I am now doing the "hands that do dishes" advert, trying to avoid the rubber gloves, although I have to say those one use gloves are fab for distressing - my hands do not have any stain on them this time.

So off to play with the bubbles..............................till tomorrow

Magnolia Xmas Card meets copics

I did do the ironing but not instead of the brooch but as well as the brooch.  I also made a double challenge card and I am pleased with myself that I have made yet another xmas card (Sam - keeping to the promise I made myself :) )

The papers are from the Hobby House along with the card stock and pearls, the ribbon from my stash.  I used the cuttlebug nesties for the image platform and an emboss and die snowflake shape for the base of the flower.  The punches used are all from the Hobby House.  The pleating was fun, but does not show off it's true interest by the placement according to the sketch.  May have to use it again to better effect on another card.

Here is the close up of the copic coloured image on the new paper, still not liking it but will persevere with it for a while.  For those of you who have asked what the problem is, I will try to explain

The new stuff is lovely soft smooth and fine paper and does not necessarily drain the ink from the pen, 

however when I work on my comic book art board, as I layer the ink colours for the shading it actually blends the edges together and sort of all sinks to one level on or in the paper.  This new stuff well the first colour sinks into sort of the paper but the second colour sits on top and then the third sits on top of that so when you try to blend with the first colour it just sort of smudges the colour around instead of fading the darker to the lighter.............
